Fee Structure And Facilities
The college fees were very feasible and were not expensive at all. It was INR 2500/- during my time and I'm not aware of today's fee structure there. We had to pay separate fees for examination and library. The fee structure was feasible for a middle class person but was not for a poor.
Fees and Financial Aid
The college gives a number of Awards and Scholarships. The scholarships are given on the basis of academic performance and merit cum means. Those who are eligible for scholarships under merit cum means basis are identified after careful evaluation. Scholarships and prizes on the basis of academic performance is an impetus for them to perform well in the examinations. There are a number of welfare schemes operating in the college e.g. endowment scholarships for bright students. There are welfare schemes for the employees e.g. loans are sanctioned by S.B. College Employees' Credit Co-operative Ltd. for permanent employees. In addition, there is Food Loan facility & loan against General Provident Fund.
Campus Life
Different clubs and societies work under the supervision of the teachers, prominent among them being Youth Festival and Shishirotsava Committee, Debate Club, Magazine & Nature club. Though there is no separate employment cell in the college, at times, the requisition from various local industries for a list of suitable candidates is responded. Isolated campus interviews, too, had been done for the students of Computer Sc. & Botany departments. It is a feather in the cap of the college that it has been identified as a centre by the Govt. of Maharashtra to run 'Vidynan Manch' for bright school students since 1980. A brief interaction with the students reflected that the students have fairly good communication skills, appreciate and abide by college discipline and have a reasonable level of alertness and comprehension. The NSS department working under two programme officers is doing commendable work. Many noble programmes have been taken up in the past three years like blood donation camps, aids awareness, spread of literacy, construction of a link road to a village & drainage system, training youth for village industry, formation of co-operative milk scheme with villagers & preparation of a documentary on Kumbhephal activities. A good number of NCC cadets have been selected for ' Basic Leadership Camps' each year. In the year 1998-99, three cadets got selected for Republic Day Parade at New Delhi.Ample greenery with trees adorning the sideways is found, though it needs the attention of the Botany department and the authorities for proper care and nurture.
Hostel Facilities
There are separate hostels on the campus with 41 students residing out of which 25 are boys & 16 girls. Govt. policies on reservation is followed in hostel admissions. There is a department of Physical Education which provides coaching in outdoor & indoor games. The sports activities will get a great boost on the completion of a gymnasium on the campus. The college canteen calls for a face lift though it is providing the essential services. The college has raised sufficient funds under the scheme of self-financing courses for their smooth running.
