Likes
- Campus Life: Probably the best NIT in this matter
- Placements: Even for ECE branch, placements are great
- Infrastructure: Second best infra in NITs.
Dislikes
- Faculty: Teachers are not much interested in teaching.
- Course structure: Not useful.
- Coding culture: Coding culture is still negligible here in MNIT.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose BTech in ECE because the ultrasmall microchips working behind our sophisticated machines interested me. The faculty: student ratio is about 1:23. Faculties are well-qualified and well-versed in their respective domains. The teaching method is a bit old school because of no motivation to change their methods. For our batch, midterms were conducted in one and a half months after our classes started. End terms were conducted after 4 months of start of classes because our time was compressed due to COVID delays. The exams are not too hard to pass, giving regular attention in class can make you top the class and studying properly before the exams is enough to pass the exam.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for placements after the 6th semester. For 645 eligible students, 689 offers were made, a total of 565 students got placed. Companies like Apple, Paytm, Flipkart, Goldmann Sachs, Airtel, and Reliance petroleum visited the campus. For the ECE department, the average package was 18.01 LPA and the highest package was 64 LPA in the 2021-22 session. For the 2022-23 session, 72 LPA has been offered to 2 students of the ECE branch. Almost 95% of ECE students get placed and around 89% of all branch students get placed in on-campus drives. My plans after getting the degree are to get into the software industry.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees are similar to other NITs. The overall cost to study except hostels comes to around 6 lakhs for 4 years. There are many scholarships available. State Government provides scholarships to their domicile students and the central government provides central sector scheme scholarships. There is also a fee waiver for students having less family income. For under 1 lakh, there is a 100% fee waiver and 2/3rd of a tuition fee waiver for the 1 to 5 lakh income category.
Campus Life
The best thing about MNIT Jaipur is its campus life. The location factor is too good, it is in the center of the city with many nearby hangout places. The annual cultural fest is Blitzschlag which was held in February and the technical fest is Sphinx which happened in March. There are a large number of books and journals available in the library. They also provide many e-resources, and the wi-fi facility is great in the library. In MNIT, lectures are held in VLTC which is Asia's largest Lecture theater complex. There are projectors in class, a capacity of 120+ students in each class, etc. There are many clubs run by students here in MNIT, one of them is ED cell which helps entrepreneurs represent their ideas in front of the college administration.
Admission
Eligibility criteria are class 12th PCM, getting more than 75% in class 12th, or being in the top 20 percentile of your respective board. You need to write JEE Main exam and be among the top students to get admission to this college. Jee's main application form is released every year around January on its official website. NTA conducts this exam. Application fees are 1000 rs. for a general male candidate. There are reservation benefits for female, physically handicapped, SC, ST, OBC, and EWS students. Reservation helps get into the same college at a lower score. The admission process is smooth and well organized.
Other Applied Colleges
IIT Mandi- Indian Institute of Technology - [IITM] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Electrical and Electronics Engineering)
I couldn't pay the counselling fees on time.
