IIFT Kolkata Internship Process Details

IIFT is a core trade college, but Don't worry if you want to get into finance or marketing, it acts as normal IIM MBAs, similar companies come for recruitment with similar roles Talking about facilities, you will India's top trade economist (whom the Indian govt consult to make trade policy and decisions) teaching you in the class like normal professors. Exams are like college exams, nothing different.

Companies that come for internships placements are the same for Delhi and Kolkata campuses because both campus students sit together, no biases form the company's side. You can see the name of companies from the summer placement report. only 7-8 companies out of 100+ companies don't allow Kolkata students. The internship stats are the same for both campuses. Again to give you a number, IIFT Kolkata's numbers are better than IIM Shillong's.

At the end of 1st trimester, the placement cycle starts, so the first 3 months will be very hectic. Meetings with placement committee, classes during the day, seniors teaching in the night. Talking about placement stats IIFT Kolkata's avg package was around 2lakhs for 2 months (8-week internship). and Final placements for IIFT Kolkata were around 25 lakhs per year. the placement report of IIFT Delhi and Kolkata is combined, To give you insight IIFT Kolkata and Delhi both sit in placements together so, placement stats are more or less the same. To give you a number IIFT Kolkata placements are better than IIM Shillong.

Fees + Hostel = 21.5lkhs (for 2 years), You will get a collateral-free loan of 20 lakhs, which most of the guys will take from banks already on the campus. You can also check the SBI Scholar loan institution list and you will get the name of IIFT Kolkata there.

The campus in Kolkata is 2 km from the city, so you can travel to Kolkata (the city is very affordable). There are various clubs, cells, and committees and you can get into one which suits your interest. There are various management and cultural festivals which you can enjoy. And you will meet people from various parts of India and with different educational backgrounds.

Hostel facilities are excellent, Internet speed is fast. Single seater room for boys (shared for girls) There are common rooms where you can watch cricket and football matches together There are Table tennis tables in some common rooms. 2 Badminton courts and a Basketball court.

IIFT takes its own exam which is called the IIFT entrance test. The eligibility criteria for the exam are the same as the CAT. The application form is 2500/- and the exam usually happens after a week of CAT You will get your result in the month of Feb and interview shortlist in the same month. The interview happens after a month gap from the shortlist. Before the interview, they send you some questions (HR Questions) which you have to submit 15 days before the interview, and the interview is based on that. Try to form your answers on that. And deliver it, the interviews are easy. Usually they say the cutoff is 96-99ile but this is for GEM, but remember that you are not a GEM (if you are nothing can be done about it), so the shortlist would come for people with even 85+ile so, be prepared and people convert at this percentile.

My process includes, Extempore - 2mins+ 15mins (interview), The interview has mostly based on the Questionnaire that I answered and submitted 15 days before the interview. They have asked me about my city, and some very easy questions about mechanical engineering. They want to have a conversation, a simple interview (not stressed one).
