It takes a couple of hours to complete the process of admission when all documents are available readily. After admission, the staff would take us for a college visit. Course Curriculum Overview
As it is a private university, the curriculum is fixed by the University itself. They make sure their curriculum matches that of other main universities (University of Madras, Anna University) and are also advanced in all aspects. Faculty: Student Ratio: 30:1. Qualification of the Faculty: All the HODs and a major number of staff are Ph.D. holders in their fields. Also, every commerce staff there have a minimum number of 4 degrees in the particular specification itself. Many staffs are student-friendly and believe in teaching practice. There are obviously few staffs who have less teaching knowledge but are well knowledged in the subject. The exams for each semester are categorized to: Cycle Test 1, Cycle Test 2, Model Exam 1, Main Semester Paper. They're easy to score when you listen to the class and follow your studies properly. But, faculties are very strict in correction and don't see any partiality in the students during exam papers correction.
Internships Opportunities
There aren't any internship offers from the college. But you can apply it on your own and the support, and assistance needed will be provided. I did an internship in the 3rd year at 'iSchoolConnect Technologies Pvt Ltd' as 'Data Research Intern'. The college and the faculties provided the needed support and gave excuses as I had to miss a few of my classes. My pay was Rs 10,000 per month as it was a full-time internship.
Placement Experience
You're eligible for Placements from 3rd year. But you can apply in 2nd yr itself for internships, from your side and necessary support will be provided by college management. No. of companies: More than 50 big and recognized companies. There were also 2 abroad offers, and it depends on the company Highest Package - 1300000 Average - 400000 From our batch, 100% of the students got eligible as everyone had excellent results in exams. Everyone also got placed in their respective fields or other fields. The Placement department trains each department's student, individually from 2nd year. I planned for working for a year or two, as work experience, and doing my higher studies later.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee per semester is Rs 60,000 which is the mostly found fee for B.Com in private universities. During my period of study, there were no fee hikes. Yes, scholarships are available for: First Graduate in the Family, a Percentage of above 90% in HSLC, and Reserved Castes. There are 2 Industrial Visits in total - 2nd & 3rd yr. Due to Covid, we never had the opportunity of Batch Trips. But from my seniors, and super seniors, we've heard that Trips are there, which will be from start to end coordinated, funded, and managed by the students. There will be help from the department staff too. There are plenty of job opportunities, that start once you're entering your Final Year of study. The placements are both available in your stream & out of the stream. Top companies such as TCS, Wipro, Cognizant, ICICI Banks, Insurance Companies, Sutherland, Outsourcing Accounts and Tax companies, etc. The package varies from 2L - 7L. I'm now placed in TCS as Business Development Executive.
Campus Life
The campus has a library that has Subject related books only. Though there are not many cultures compared to other colleges, 1 - 2 events happen in a year. I'm not sure about it, as half of our college life was online. Still, many awareness programs, workshops, and competitions happen now and then, both in academics and nonacademics. There are clubs in the commerce department such as Eco Club, Entrepreneur's Club, Women's Talent Club, and Literary Club (For every department).
Other Applied Colleges
SRM Institute of Science and Technology - [SRMIST] | Bachelor of Commerce
They have good infrastructure and placement facilities.
