Remarks
Well, Ashoka does not follow a particular exam for admission, rather it looks at all the aspects of a student. Ashoka has three levels to qualify. The first is the application form. The application form is long and you need to provide all details about your family, the financial status of your family, your education, and the rest of the contact details. The form even ask for three essay one is basically about yourself, the second is about any challenges that you have faced and how you overcome them, and the third is why you want to join Ashoka. these are basically to understand you and they just need a genuine answer. Once your application is selected, you are sent a confirmation letter asking for the Ashoka aptitude test. If you have appeared for sat then you can escape this test. But it's a general test with questions of math's up to the 10th level, passage reading, and reasoning. Students can apply for financial aid if they need it.
Course Curriculum Overview
I feel the biology course is very good at Ashoka. The faculty members are approachable and helpful. There are nine labs for biology itself where a lot many types of research are going on about different topics. From your second semester itself, you can apply for internships and can work under professors on different research. The faculty: student ratio is very good here. Because few students joined Ashoka for sciences as they misunderstood Ashoka as a university for only social sciences, the batch size is small and every student has an opportunity. I loved the teaching methods and the assistance provided. Besides the professor and assistant professor, there is a teaching fellow to help you out in case you need them. Unlike other colleges in India where you have to write an exam to pass, Ashoka's grading system differs. You will be required to write academic papers with proper citations. But here there is another faculty i.e. CWC to help you with it.
Internships Opportunities
There are a lot may internship opportunities at Ashoka. The highest stipend has been around 1.5 lakhs per month. Around summer lot many companies visit the campus for internships. Besides it, you can work with the professors on different topics.
Placement Experience
Though most of the students have opted to go for higher education, the placement at Ashoka is good. Nearly 250+ companies visit Ashoka for recruitment every year. The highest package has been 37LPA. The highest stipend has been 1.5 lakhs per month. The average package is 7-8 lakhs per annum. They assist students to go for higher education in India as well as abroad.
Fees and Financial Aid
Ashoka is generous with financial aid. Once you are selected, you can apply for financial aid. they will ask for some documents and you can get financial aid easily. Else the fee for Ashoka is very high for a middle-class family to afford. They even provide full financial aid to many students. There are also few scholarships for science students. Even there are paid internships after the first year which you can apply for.
Campus Life
Life at Ashoka is very happening. A lot is going on on campus which provides a lot of social exposure. Though Ashoka does not support any religious festival celebration you are always free to represent through cultural programs. There are a large number of clubs at Ashoka and you can be a part of any irrespective of what your major is. Ashoka publishes its journal and poetry which you can apply if you have skills. The Ashoka library is one of the most loved places. it is open for 24hours. There are lot many student commons at Ashoka where you can sit and do group study and discussions. The sports complex at Ashoka provides nearly all sports and you can go anytime you wish to for sports. It has a well-laid infrastructure with greenery all around.
Hostel Facilities
Ashoka provides a hostel facility for each student. There are two students in a room and each room has AC. You have your cupboard, bed, and study table on one side and on the other side, your roommate has one. It even has a fan if you are not comfortable with AC, you can use the fan. All the student lives on the campus only, there is no system of pg. The mess menu is good but if you are not liking the food you always have the option of tks i.e. another kitchen beside the mess menu. There are even lot many stalls inside the campus where you can visit and enjoy your meal. The mess timing is quite flexible. You always have a period of nearly 2 hours to take your meal thus there is no hurry for food.
