Remarks
This college was affiliated with the University of Kerala. The admission process was completely through a single window method under the official website of the University. Application forms were available and certain fees should be paid. Candidate should complete graduation in chemistry under a recognised university with minimum cutoff marks. All types of grants and scholarships are available.
Course Curriculum Overview
The merit seats for the course MSc polymer chemistry were only available in this college under Kerala university. The course was unique as it covers a large topic in the field of polymer processing and technologies along with conventional chemistry subjucts. We have enough high-profile faculties with PhD. We have a good atmosphere for reference and lab activities. Good library facilities. The course is 2 years with 4-semester exams. The interesting fact is we have to do our final year project from a reputed institute this will provide us with an on-the-job training experience.
Internships Opportunities
HLL Lifecare limits, CSIR NIIST, VSSC, Kerala Rubber board, CIPET etc, are some of the reputed institutes where students get opportunities for their final year project and internship. We get about two months for the internship. we get the same experience of the workplace from there and get a chance to be part of certain research works.
Placement Experience
Our campus offers placement for final-year students but in the case of chemistry students, direct placement has not happened yet the faculties provide good guidance and information about the opportunities. We have more opportunities in the field of polymer industry such as HLL Lifecare limited, MRF Tyres, Rubber board, CIPET etc, Many of our seniors were working in good firms.
Fees and Financial Aid
As it is a government college we avail a lot of scholarships and grants such as E-grants, Post matric Scholarship, Sammunathi Scholarship etc. Initially we have to pay a small amount for the PTA fund. The Course fee we paid at the time of admission will be refunded and all the fees for the semester exams were paid by the government grant.
Campus Life
A lot of cultural and arts programmes were held on our campus along with several departmental fests. Many club activities such as Nature club, Red cross, NSS and NCC programmes also. There are some programmes such as Walk with Scholar to support students. The library facility was really good we could also get a digital library having journals etc.
Hostel Facilities
There is a good ladies' hostel inside the campus with good infrastructure and facilities providing good food and water. The hostel fee was reasonable and students belonging reservation category availed of fee concession also.
