Cleared JEE Mains and Advanced Registration on jeemain.nta.nic.in I had an 856 Rank in SC Category, which got me admission and also my fee was reduced. The document verification part can be done online with less effort.
Course Curriculum Overview
My priority was to join IIT so I chose the course on the basis of my rank The faculty-student ratio was 1:50 Faculties were mostly on Post Doctorate level, and focused more on research and projects. Teaching is using presentations. We had one mid-term exam for 3-4 days (1-2 per day) and one end-term exam for 6-7 days (1 per day) for each semester.
Internships Opportunities
Companies coming for internships are less in number as compared to placements I was not able to bag an on-campus internship so I had to look for an intership on my own. My internship was in Shephertz Technologies in Gurgaon, where I build Chatbot and a Recommender System for their client.
Placement Experience
Students who become eligible for campus placements in the 7th Semester I have given intervies for OYO, Quantiphi, Practice.ai, Magicpin. The highest package in my department was 32 LPA and the average package was 8 LPA. Almost 90% of students got placed. My plan was to build a career as a Data Scientist after placements.
Fees and Financial Aid
I was availing Tuition Fee Scholarship for the SC category. People whose family income is less than 4.5 LPA and have a GPA above 6 can avail of an MCM scholarship for 50000 per semester. I got an on-campus placement in a startup with 18 LPA
Campus Life
The Annual Tech-Fest named Cognizance occurs in March and the annual Cultural Fest named Thomson Occurs in October. Books of all fields of study from Psychology to Polymer Science are available in one of the biggest libraries in India called Mahatma Gandhi Central Library. Each department has its libraries too. Each class was equipped with black/white boards along with screens and projectors. We had all kinds of sports facilities including, a gym, squash court, football, basketball, and volleyball located in the central space as well as in each hostel. I was a part of the Himalayan Explorers' Club and our goal was to organize and lead on-campus students on different treks across Uttrakhand and Himachal.
Hostel Facilities
We had double sharing rooms in the first year and after that, we had personal rooms. We had cupboards, study tables, tea tables and beds. The meal was good and healthy, but you can get bored after the first year. The registration process was simple and done by the administration on campus. You can get all toiletries and sim vendors outside your hostel only.
