Review for MANIT Bhopal - BTech(ECE) by Ayush Nema

Admission priority is based upon the JEE Mains rank. There are about 1000 total seats in MANIT for B.Tech, 50% of it is reserved for students from home state(MP). the cutoff for ECE B.Tech course was 14600 for outside state and 16500 for home state. Students have to fill JOSAA forms after jee results and based upon choice filling and rank the college and course is alloted. One major betterment in admission process could be decrease in the number of reserved seats.

ECE is generally the preferred course after CSE and most IT companies allow ECE students to sit in interviews along with CSE students. the faculty to student ratio is about 1 : 20.There are multiple professors and ass. profs. for a particular subject; and about 150-200 students for each course. All professors hold a phD degree and are profficient in their subjects, but the course syllabus is quiet old and not updated. exams are conducted once every month and level of questioning is similar to what is taught in classes.

Many companies like microsoft, TCS,coincent offer internship fromm 3rd year onwards for a period of 1/6 months about 20 students from each course are able to secure an internship every year. to get an internship a student must have had a SGPA > 7.5 in every sem and must have completed the given projects(1 major proj per sem).

the semesterly fee is about 69000 rs, hostel fee is 36000 rs per sem(including mess), admission process takes about 10000 rs. there are multiple scholarships available for students with income group less than 5 lakhs like MMVY,etc.

There are 2 major fests(one cultural, one tech) yearly and several smalles fests.But for the past 2 years none have beign conducted due to prevailing situation. Theres one central library with about 4-5 copies of all course related books. The classes are non- AC,have projectors and mic-speaker systems.There are multiple labs for each subject. Theres a well built sports complex in the campus with almost every sport available, theres a regular conduct of competetions. about 50 clubs/societies exist in the campus and conduct different competetions and fests and different times few prominent ones are: Roobaroo, tooryanad , IEEE , Robotics Club.

The rooms allotted to 3 people eventhough it was designed to accomodate 2. 3 beds,3 tables,3 chairs are provided. LAN cables dont work but wifi is provided. Food quality is okay mess serves breakfast,lunch, snacks and dinner. Hostel registration is done through institute website itself and costs about 36000/sem.
