My Six Month life in Rayagada Autonomous College

The admission process was very easy this year due to the online process and the hard work of the website www.samsodishagov.in. First I filled out the common application form for choosing a college. The application fee was 175 for ST students. Then I was selected to this college and take admission to this college in the month of September. The cut-off mark for Zoology Hons was 61%. Yes, I am getting the benefits of reservation as an ST student. The admission process was very nice.

There are many courses of different streams and subjects available in this college. In our B.Sc. Zoology course we have to clear six-semester examinations in 3 years, that is two semesters per year. I chose this course because Zoology is my favorite subject, I want to gain deep knowledge in this subject and I want to build my career in this field. The faculty and students ratio is 1;20. There are 4 teachers in our course. The qualifications of faculties are Ph.D., M, SC. The teaching method of some teachers is very interesting. Examinations were held regularly and it is very easy to pass the examination for an average student.

The fees structure of this college is medium compared to other autonomous colleges. The total fees per year are 7113 which includes the course fees of 4000 and semester fees of 3000. We have to pay this fees at the time of admission process through online mode in the website SAMS. There are many scholarship provide by the government to us, such as Post Matric scholarship, E-Medhabruti Scholarship, Vyaskabi Fakir Mahon Scholarship, etc. One students can apply one of the scholarship in the academic year. The Scholarship for students staying in a hostel is 12000 and for students staying outside the hostel is 7000 per year.

The College Campus is not very large. There are many classrooms for different Hons students. There is also a library inside the College. But we were not getting any journals monthly and yearly. The books in the library are not sufficient for all the students studying in this college. There are labs in the College. Inside the College Campus, there are many playgrounds for playing Cricket, Volleyball, Kabbadi, and Kho Kho. The College conducts many sports for selecting the students. Our college recently celebrated the unforgettable Basant Mahatsov in the month of March. Many games, competitions, and quizzes were conducted on this occasion. We enjoyed ourselves a lot at this festival.

Our college provides two boys' hostel and one girl hostel. For getting admission to the College we have to first apply for it by filling up the application form and submitting our Board certificate to the hostel superintendent on the given date. Students were selected in the hostel on the basis of marks. The admission fees for the hostel year are 2600 per year and the mess fees per month are 1500. The rooms in the hostel are fewer and we have to stay with the other 12 members in a single room. The water facility in a hostel is very good. We were getting two times meals per day. The meal quality and menu are not sufficient.
