Remarks
I joined this college by TNEA counselling. The counselling was done based on state rank on the Tamil Nadu State Board exams. I had 196.25 cut off and I applied for Mechanical Engineering in MIT as my first choice and got it in the year 2018(2100 rank). But these years Mechanical Engineering cut off has gone down so seats can be availed for much below cutoffs.
Course Curriculum Overview
Why I choose Mech? Because I liked physics and maths more than CSC. I was good at programming but can't leave science though. That's why I didn't attend any IT company in my placements too, Only tried for Core companies. My class had completely male because there is some mentality that girls should not choose mech which is sad. But, other batches had one or two girls. The teaching quality I would say is average. There are staffs who are really great and have passion but you have to find them and extract knowledge from them. But as there are in all government colleges there are staffs who don't care about anything other than their pay. Be smart, Take your dreams into your own hands, and this college will be the best to get to your dream if you are committed.
Placement Experience
Interesting one, I got placed in Reliance, New Energy. 7.5 LPA. Placements this year is very good. Lots of core companies visited. As far as placements are concerned we are an Anna University Campus, so all companies that come to the Guindy campus can also attend. People in IT companies get very good packages and lots of companies visit every year. But core companies packages are okay but only a few companies compared to IT. We are a class of 70, nearly 40 students got placed and like 10 people in Core Company. Placements are doubled compared to the previous year.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure for college is very convenient. Around 14000 per year for me because I am a first graduate. Original fees were 28k per year. And regarding scholarships, there are great scholarship opportunities, I am receiving a Renault, Nissan scholarship of 30k per year through college. This college is a cheap paradise, lots of knowledge you can acquire but then if you wanted to, no one will force you here!.
Campus Life
Yeah! My happy answer should be this, because of my first year. Due to the COVID outbreak, there wasn't much college time after my half second year, that's why the first year is very special. Participated in fests and lots of associations and teams to participate like NSS, NSO, tedclub, Tamil Mandram, Dance teams, etc. The library is not so great but sufficient.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel is like 50000 per year which is very cheap compared to other private colleges. The food is okay but gets bored after some time. But the college is situated in a great area where all the hotels and small shops are there in tons. And this is not so much strict college, so there will time to time outside dinner and lunch if you want to go with your friends. The hostel admission process is okay, but if you are so near college you might not get the admission.
