Remarks
PDPU is an energy institute. It offers other courses in conventional and non-conventional energy. It has a lot of sustainable development initiatives and teachers who instill a great interest for the course you've opted. Studying at PDPU was really enriching, the campus is beautiful, the students are active, there's always something cool happening within the campus.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum was designed craftfully. It focused on both theoretical and practical sides of the subject. Practicals are held every week and different types of experiments were performed to give a greater depth to the subject. There were a lot of conferences on both power and non-power applications of nuclear energy as well. Industrial exposure such as visits to institutes like BARC were also done.
Internships Opportunities
I opted for an internship at L&T VHEW, Baroda. The internship was a rewardjng one, as I got to work on pressurizers and heat exchangers. It was truly fulfilling and holistic. I got a stipend of 6000/month.
Placement Experience
Placements and Jobs after Nuclear engineering would generally be in PSUs like NPCIL, BARC, NFC, HWB. Apart from that, generally students opt for further research fellow programs through DGFS exam into institutes like BARC, RRCAT, IPR.Private industries such as Atkins, L&T, Godrej also absorb Nuclar Engineers.
College Events
PDPU organizes a lot of fests. There's a dedicated annual cultural fest and a sports fest. Apart from that, various festivals are celebrated in the campus such as Navratri, Holi, Uttrayan, Lohri, Christmas. The University also has numerous clubs to choose from ranging from books clubs, theatre, music, dance, moot courts, flea markets, art and culture.
Fees and Financial Aid
I availed a Teaching Assistant Scholarship of 8000/month. Being a Teaching Assistant one would have to help the assigned professor with daily work or research work or lab work. Student loans are available too in the bank within the campus.
Campus Life
The campus infrastructure is laid on expansive grounds. The University has 5 buildings or blocks and there's a sixth one under construction. These blocks harbour different students from different streams. It has all the utilities such as an atm, general store, stationery, mess and a canteens with a wide variety of food choices.
