Remarks
I took the NMAT exam in order to apply to Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies. The exam contained 3 sections - verbal, quantitative ability and logical reasoning. The quantitative and logical reasoning sections were fairly easy while verbal was on the tougher side. After clearing the required cut off in all 3 sections, we were called were the group discussion and personal interview process. The first part was a group discussion on the topic "social responsibility undertaken at the corporate level". This was an eliminative round. Post this, the shortlisted candidates were called for the personal interview process. This was a single round - taken by 3 faculty members. It was more on the hygiene side - wherein they wanted to understand our rationale for doing an MBA, how it will add value to us and what are our future aspirations. It was a very interactive and open round. As such, the interview process was very smooth and streamlined and the processes were running well on time.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose to opt for an MBA in Finance. The first year was common to all - no matter what the specialization is. There are a total of 10 divisions formed at NMIMS Mumbai for the core MBA students. Each division has around 60 students. Although the classes are conducted in an online setup, the faculty is well versed with the nuances of an online lecture. The teachers are well qualified, and usually follow a pre-read and post-read method of teaching. Most concepts are taught on a case-to-case basis in order to present a more realistic scenario. Mid-term and end-term examinations are conducted for all subjects, also followed by a project report for almost every subject.
Internships Opportunities
A lot of companies visit for internships in the 1st year of MBA. These are in the fields of Finance (example - Goldman Sachs, ICICI etc.), Marketing (Asian Paints, Pidilite, etc.), Operations (General Motors, Genpact, etc.)
Placement Experience
Students are eligible for final placements in the 5th trimester.Around 100-150 companies visit the campus and the whole batch gets placed Packages range from 15 LPA to 35 LPA.I plan to work for the corporate after completing my MBA.
Fees and Financial Aid
Total fees - 20 Lakh.No scholarship or financial assistance as such. Most internships and jobs are paid and are organized through the placement committee. Due to large batch size, the placements are conducted at a longer term.
