A 3year / 4 year Bachelor's degree is required to be eligible for this course. The application form is available on the NTA Website. The application fees is probably Rs 2500 for General/OBC candidates and Rs 1000 for reserved candidates. The dates are available on the NTA website. Reservation is there as per Govt. norms. The admission process for GD/PI could be a litte faster as last year it took almost 2 months.

I chose this course because I wanted an international exposure on the business scenario, which only IIFT can provide. Faculties are superb and they teach you nitti-gritties of the business line. The faculty:student ratio is quite good with almost one faculty for every ten students. Most of the faculties have PhD degrees from reputed institutions of the country. Term exams are always on time, and passing depends on your hardwork and how you prepare throughout the trimester.

According to last year reports, almost 130 companies have visited the campus for the summer internship process. All the big brands like Loreal,ITC,HUL etc. in the marketing domain and JPMC, Goldman Sachs etc. in the financial domain visit the campus. The highest stipend offered last year was 3.2 lakhs in the SIP process. Projects are basically live projects that the companies are currently working upon. The work you do is a direct impact on the clients of the company.

Students become eligible for summer placements from the first trimester only, and for final placements in the 5th trimester. According to the placement report of last year, almost 130 companies have visited the campus and more than 200 offers have been made. The highest package offered last year was somewhat around 46 lakhs in the trade domain. 100 percent placements is there, so all the students get placed. My plans after degree will be to work in the financial domain for some years and then move to a consulting role.

Fees hike are less but it costs almost 20 lakhs to study. Scholarships are available, but you have to keeps your eyes and ears open all the time and apply timely if any scholarship opportunity comes. Final placements are in 2nd year and all relevant details are mentioned in the placement report which is available in the public domain.

A lot of extra curriculars are organized in the campus starting from cultural and management fests. These events give the students the necessary respite they need. The annual management festival is named 'Vivaan' which is an international business summit held in November and the annual cultural fest 'Advait' is held in March. Libraries are functional 24*7 and almost all books are available. A lot of sports and extra curricular activities are organized on campus, starting from cricket, football, dance, singing, nukkad, drama etc. There are various clubs in each domain such as Marketing, Finance etc which are run by the students and also a website IIFT Kolkata reflections where you can find all the relevant details regarding clubs, cells and committees that are functional in the college.

Hostels are available for both male and female with every possible amenities. Both veg and non veg meals are available giving the students the necessary option to choose from. Boys have single sharing rooms ang girls have double sharing rooms. The mess menu is good, providing adequate choice to both vegeterians and non-vegeterians with chicken available every alternate day. The mess provides regional food options for both North and South Indians. Hostels are affordable and registration is done on first come first serve basis.

There was an extempore, WAT and PI round. Extempore topics were based on current affairs, such as Farm laws, India- China relations, public protests etc. WAT is mainly based on technical and current affair topics. The written test pattern is almost similar to that of CAT with Quants,DI, Verbal. The extra portion is GK, for which you have to read the current affairs of atleast the last six months. The process starts with the written test around December- January with the sucessive rounds of WAT and PI in March-April. GD was conducted in offline mode, but it was scrapped in online mode. If you have prepared diligently for CAT, it is enough to sail you through IIFT.
