Student Review of IIPS- DAVV (Indore) in course M.Tech(IT) form admission to placement.

I applied for IIPS(DAVV) through DAVV CET, SRM university. I cleared the SRM university exams but didn't enrol as it was a private institution and the fee structure was high. Devi Ahilya Vishwa Vidyalaya conducted CET in the year 2016, for admission for these courses:- Integrated M.Tech(IT) 5 yr, MCA(6yr), B.Pharma, MBA(HA). The examination was conducted yearly for Science stream students(PCM, PCB, PCMB) for the above courses. Colleges of DAVV that enrolled students from these examinations are the International Institute of Professional Studies and the Institute of Management Studies. The CET for science students had an Aptitude section, English Section, and Core Subject Questions(PCM, PCB). The admission criteria were to clear the cutoff of the examination and appear for counselling. The quota was provided to SC/ST'S AND OBC's, though I belong to the UR category and did not avail them. Ten percent quota was provided to women candidates. During counselling, you need to provide the result.

I choose this course as it is an M.Tech degree in 5 years whereas that requires 6 years if went like B.Tech(4 yr) and M.Tech(4 yr). The course curriculum is good and extra subjects like the French language, but to gain good knowledge you have to put more extra effort of your own as it is a State - Government institution. There were 16 technical faculty for 2 courses M.Tech and MCA, and guest lecturers were also provided. All the permanent technical faculty hold a Ph.D. and NET qualified. For subjects that were basic, the professor was able to teach like languages(JAVA, C, C++), Networking, OS. but for some new technology subjects like cloud, AI teachers were not up to date and were not able to give a good knowledge of it either theoretical or practical. There were 3 internal exams and 1-semester exam in 6 months and was easy to pass but to score above 8 CGPA, you have to study more.

Walkover, cognizant, Impetus, gammastack, Factset, fico offered internships with stipend 15,000, 12000, 10,000, 10,000, 15,000, 10,000 respectively. Students were trained then assessed and interviewed and then deployed to projects for FTE roles.

The students of M.Tech are eligible from the 4th year to appear for the campus placements. Many companies arrive for placements from startups like Walkover (product-based companies), Gammastack, to MNC's and tech giants like Cognizant, Accenture, VMWare, FICO, Quatiphi, and many more with multiple roles and package from 3.5 LPA to 24 LPA. I am now working in Cognizant and companies are still visiting for the 2016 pass-out batch. The highest package offered by Avalara for the SDE role of 24 LPA and VMWARE offered 10 LPA for tech support.

There was no major fees hike for the enrolled batch but for the coming batch up to 20k hike was there, Say of 2016 paid 70k per year, then 2017 had to pay 90k. The management sometimes mas unfair charges and sometimes acted like a private institution for money matters. Though there were no classes for the last semester students and as due to covid no physical class and examination still the management took not only full fees but a hike of 15k, even in covid library and infrastructure fees was taken in the name of maintenance fees and when no objected by students, no results. No institutional scholarship was there just the ones of ST'S/SC'S/OBC's which were government-funded. No financial assistance or on-campus jobs. I designed a website for one of the colleges in the university, they neither provided a certificate of any fee/stipend. Overall Management was not at all fair in terms of money.

There were annual fests held by both college(IIPS) and university(DAVV). IIPS held fest a cultural fest like Tourista, where students from the university can participate in teams of 7. The fest included tasks, games of both management stream and technical stream. Tourista fest had events like gaming, art exhibition, quizzes, treasure hunt, plays, ramp walks, and musicals. The auditorium was well furnished for events like these. Another fest of IIPS that was conducted once in 4 years was XPRESSION. The fest was on a major level. During that fest, the campus was lighted and decorated and teams were made which consisted of 25 members. stalls of food were there and the event goes on for at least 5 days. Events held full campus rallies on themes and last day had a sow of a band and the event was completed with a DJ night, During the above events no class was held and students were given a good opportunity to participate and grow in an all-rounded manner.

The hostel facility was satisfactory. A room had 2 beds, tables, chairs, and shelves. Some newly constructed hostels had wardrobes. Hostels had Lan Connection/ wifi 24/7. Common Washrooms developed throughout the years with automatic washing machines and sanitary pads disposer. Though cleaning of rooms and washrooms were at lag sometimes. Meals were also good with specials on Sunday and no meal for Sunday evening. For breakfast in a mess, you have to pay them explicitly according to their charges but it was very affordable. The registration process and annual fee payment was tiring and still process through challan like there is no Online payment. you have wait to for staff to complete the requirements and they work like a typical lazy government employee. For example, the application was made for the return of caution money in the month of July and yet not have been refunded even in the month of October, the same goes for college caution money.
