Remarks

I only applied to this college online mode. The admission process is completely based on a merit basis determined by the 12th-grade result recognized by any state or central govt. I availed SC category quota. Minimum marks are 50 percentage in 12th to apply in this college. There is a counseling cum verification process is available after getting your name on the online merit list.

Course Curriculum Overview

2

I want to contribute myself in spreading education by teaching profession among underprivileged society. The faculty and student ratio is 1:32. One of the faculty is approved for the students of B.Ed but he is still taught us because of the lack of faculty. The rest of them are SACT. The medium of teaching is Bengali and provided study materials are also in Bengali. The relationship among students and faculty is very friendly. They did not take a class on regular basis but yet they try to give their best. Term exam completely relies upon University so there is not any hand of the college.

Placement Experience

0.5

There is not any kind of placement cell is available apart from students' own employability. There is the ratio of placement by the college is lower than 1 percentage. I want to pursue my career in civil services.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions

There is not any kind of fees hike policy that exists but somehow faculties are helpful for underprivileged students. Only scholarships availed by students are SVMCM, k2, SC, ST, OBC, etc govt provided scholarships with prior verification of the college authority.

Campus Life

1.5

There is an annual fest and students enjoy it a lot. Apart from this there is various small fest also occur. But not any kind of tech fest is available except some little interaction among B. Ed students. There is a small library consisting of necessary books on academics. Class amenities are not up to the mark. There is a small playground in college and students are somehow play a little cricket and carom. There is no suck kind of opportunity to perform extracurricular activities as there are no such types of clubs is exist in college except virtual social media groups.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is a complex and vast one, with multiple areas in focus, which itself is a merit as it serves its purpose in training a Christian minister for all the challenges. The course is more praxis than a confined theoretical classroom. Certain improvements in teaching methods can be brought up. Teachers must ensure the students' study and find some way to monitor it. Otherwise students tend to get stuck in the wide array of topics to study and somehow just find it difficult.

The faculty student ratio is 1:11 and they are all highly qualified having specialisation in their respective fields. The teachers are cooperative and helpful towards the students.

See, the university is not a commercial one. You can pursue honours, Masters, PhD and certificate courses in the university. There is no such campus placement system but the university has an employment cell which is mainly for those who pursue honours in foreign languages such as French, Italian, Russian, Chinese, Japanese and many others.

Jogamaya Devi college, B.A English Honours
Reviewed on Jun 5, 2020

Remarks:

Jogamaya Devi College provides enrichment to student's mind with its highly skilled and cooperative faculty in a peaceful atmosphere. The department of English Literature is gifted with professors dedicated to skilful teaching, understanding and expanding the students' borders of creativity. I'd like to express my gratitude towards them as they helped me rediscover my love for literature all over again. Almost every classroom is big and airy, and can easily accommodate over 100 students. I can assure that one will not regret becoming a part of Jogamaya Devi College. There is, however, a few downsides. The office staff is extremely rude and unwilling to cooperate with students in need. The food served in the cafeteria is very unhygienic. Due to a large number of students with Bengali medium background, students coming from English medium institutions may feel neglected.
