It still is among the top 5 colleges of pharmacy in India inspite of so many institutes now open in India.
Entrance Preview
No entrance examinations were required when I passed out my Std XII examination. Admission was based on PCB score of Std XII. I also had options of MBBS with my PCB score but at that point of time (during end of 90's when i would pass out it was very easy for Pharmacy students to go to US for their Masters with full financial aid,provided they had decent scores in GRE & TOEFL.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course was a yearly course comprehensively dealing with all the aspects that a pharmacist needs to know and we had practicals and theory separately. In addition the University exam was of 70 marks and 30 marks was internal assessment based on average of 3 periodic tests.
Internships Opportunities
There were no college internships in those days but just a couple of months training to be done in the industry after completion of third year and before entry into fourth year.
College Events
We had freshers party,annual day,sports events,cultural activities along with lecture by known people in the industry. We also participated in the inter pharma mumbai pharmacy colleges cultural and sports festivals.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fee structure was cheap then in 1987-1991 and was about Rs 1000-1500 for the whole year. The University exam fee was separate and used to be RS 1000 for the full year.
Fees and Financial Aid
Merit scholarships to top ranking students in specific subjects were available based on their performance in University exam.
Campus Life
No campus life but extracurricular activities,seminars,sports competitions were held annually. We also had students from other countries like Nigeria and Iran but only 1 or 2 in a batch. There was no discrimination whats ever on any basis and we were all like one family.
Hostel Facilities
No hostel was available but there were lot of PG's available close to the college. Since students from outside mumbai were few accomodation was not a problem. Also access to hotels and other shops were close by.
Alumni/Alumna
All students passed out and seniors whom we know are all abroad and doing well in their career. The college now has an alumni which helps current batch of students in their career.
Exam Structure
Exams were periodic every quarter with the final exam by the University at the end of year for theory. For practicals it was 2 exams per year.
Faculty
We had an excellent faculty with all professors having a passion for teaching and the basics taught were so good that they are still imbibed in our blood. The faculty was famous for their research and publications internationally as well.
