I appeared for the National Aptitude Test In Architecture as well as completed my 10+2 with maths as a subject. I had a score of 112 in NATA and 78% in 10+2. As this was the first college in which i was selected i opted for it .
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is pretty good .As our college is a part of MRSPTU (Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University. The syllabus is same as Giani Zail Singh Campus College of Engineering & Technology.I think the course is more practical and flexible. And most of the topics and subjects are taught to us in a way to help in real world situations.
Internships Opportunities
There is an industrial training for engineering students in there 8th semester .In our department too the training is on 8th semester, you have to apply on your own side for internships and stuff like that.
Placement Experience
As it is the nature of our course i don't think any placement is provided by the college. Though there is ample placements by the college for engineering students. The job opportunities in our field A.K.A architecture is pretty good. There is an on average only 1 architect for 20000 people. So there is space .Plus as architects get older there the remuneration increases.
College Events
The college is pretty ingrained to its roots and Punjabi culture.Various cultural festivals are celebrated in the college .SECA (Symposium for Extra-Curricular Activities) decides and make arrangement for various cultural activities as well as organise them. The events are pretty good and local authorities as well as sometime big authorities such as deputy cm of Punjab visit the college too.Our college students .
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is just at the right end of the curve. The fees is about 57 k for 1st semester without hostel charges. And the fees only reduces in the next semesters. The hostel charge is a 3k. Which is pretty affordable and accessible for most people i believe. In total the fees to 1.2 Lakh for a year. The mess charge is billed separately which is near 2.5 to 3 k each month. And that too is pay as per your consumption.
Fees and Financial Aid
There are various ways to get scholarships. I haven't heard about any loans provided by the college though. If your parents income is less than 1 lakh and you score more than 7 GPA the entire fees can be reduced to only hostel fees and mess charges. There is scholarship for university toppers i think. There are scholarships for socially backward class students to.
Alumni/Alumna
The seniors here are just too good. They are just awesome. I don't know whether it is just me or something else but they are helpful and funny all the time .As i am in 1 st year i don't know much about alumni network or such. Many of our teachers are the alumni of our college and they are as good as it can get.
Exam Structure
The college follows the exam pattern of MRSPTU(Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University. There are 2 internals and one external or end semester exams in each semester .There intensity is pretty OK and not very hectic. If a persons attends classes regularly one can easily cope up with the exams. And there are good amount of gaps between subsequent papers so one can prepare well ahead of time .
Admission
I applied for direct admission after the online counselling round was over. I went to the campus myself and applied there. There was an advertisement on the newspaper about the courses available .Then over there they created a merit list based upon which i was selected. They require me to have various original documents such as 12th mark-sheets ,10th mark-sheets, photocopy of birth certificates ,my NATA score, etc.
Faculty
As our department is new one. Most of the faculty is pretty innovative and good. They put in a great deal of effort and make sure we get the best learning environment and materials. They are very approachable as well as hands on. Most of the faculty is from Guru Nanak Dev University. And some new faculties will arrive from Giani Zail Singh Campus College of Engineering & Technology to.
