Remarks
I had applied for NMIMS, KJ Som, IMT G, Welingkar & TAPMI and got interview call from IMT G, Welingkar, NMIMS Hyd, & TAPMI. I choose TAPMI because of TAPMI's location, ranking, facilities, and placement opportunities. I did not avail any quota. I had previous work experience as a Business Development Executive for 9 months which was added weightage to my profile since I had chosen PGDM-Marketing. The admission process took place in Feb 2021, after initial shortlisting there was a Group discussion, Personal Interview, and English Proficiency Test. The selection process was virtual and took place on the Zoom platform. First, there was a Moderate Group Discussion, 2 panelists were present and around 8-10 students were in the discussion. We were given a topic for discussion which went on for an hour, after which each of us waited for our PI. PI was taken by 2 panelists, the interviewers were friendly and questioned on GD review, education, workex, life choices, motives, extracurriculars, etc.
Course Curriculum Overview
I have chosen PGDM- Marketing since I had an interest in Marketing and also worked as BDE before. PGDM- Marketing though recently started in TAPMI (ours is 3rd batch) has been well designed. All our faculty members are excellent. They have industry exposure and come with really good experiences. Hence they also teach us to keep in mind the practicality in the Industry. All faculty members are really good in terms of teaching, subject knowledge, class engagement, etc. Faculty members are highly qualified in their respective fields & subjects, most of them with Ph.D. All faculties use the case method to teach any concept. They make sure to teach using case studies most of the time. Every single process is it student activities, exams, quizzes, presentations, etc takes place on time. Quizzes are of moderate LOD and yet to experience the rigor of exams.
Internships Opportunities
College provides enough opportunities for internships with a good stipend(25-50-1L varies). Pgdm- marketing most of the roles in an internship are sales-related. College makes sure to get 100% placement for internships.
Placement Experience
Students are provided with Internships as well as Placement opportunities. The internship selection process starts in September right after a month of term 1. Many companies come for selection, place come members put their heart and soul to reach out and make sure to give us maximum opportunities. Companies provide 50k - 1L stipend (it depends and varies based on companies). 100% of students get internships and 100% of them get placed. My plan is to opt for placements and get into a good role in the Marketing/Sales domain.
Fees and Financial Aid
7.55 L is the college tuition fees per year and 1.6 L is the hostel fees per year. Though the fees structure is high we can tell that the return on investment to be quite good. College makes sure every student gets internships and final job placements. There are multiple scholarships provided by the college like Ramdas Pai Scholarships and many others.
Campus Life
The annual fest of the college is ATHARVA. One other important fest is DISHA, which is a corporate engagement fest where leaders and top executives from industries are invited to come and interact with students. There are many other fests conducted timely by various committees. College provides a separate portal to each student where they can access any of the books. Since the mood is virtual right now, we have been provided kindle copies of books. Don't know about the classrooms since we haven't been there yet but have heard that they are extremely good with top-class facilities. There are many clubs and committees (around 25) covering a wide plethora of interests. One amazing thing is all these are run by students. There's no less for extracurricular events.
Interview Experience
Yes, I had GD, PI, and English Proficiency tests as part of the selection process. GD topic I got was "Censorship in OTT platforms". The topic was based on the recent happenings in OTT. SOP and relevant work experience play an important role in the process. Interview questions included: Asked for self review my GD performance, learnings from my job, reason for switching my previous job and asked to justify job switch, questioned about risks I had taken and failures I faced in life and how I overcame it, how have I helped someone or contributed, goals in life and examples of how I achieved it, finally asked if there were any questions for the interviewers. I prepared for the general interview questions, researched about college, clubs, and committees in the college from the official website, mostly self-reflected on the choices I had made in education, work, and life and also kept myself updated with recent news/GK topics.
