Remarks

I had applied for the top 3 colleges in Pune for a Bsc computer science degree which included Fergusson college, MES Garware College, and Modern College. I was not able to take the admission in FC and Garware due to my 12th %, later on, my name was shortlisted in FC but as I already had taken admission in Modern College, so I wasn't able to opt for it. My college shortlisted students on the basis of their overall percentage which they got in 12th. The minimum percentage which I saw in the shortlisted list was 70% and since I was eligible I was able to take admission by paying the fees when I unlocked the portal on the college website.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

I had opted for this course as I wasn't interested in doing engineering but wanted to explore the research and programming sector. There are two divisions for us which consist of 80-100 students. Here concepts are analyzed theoretically and are applied practically and I love the way that the syllabus starts taking shape as a blueprint which gives us a better understanding of all the concepts that are taught. The teaching sector is amazing and they take care of each concept and go in-depth while teaching. They also care about the students if they understood the concept individually. All the faculty members hold Ph.D. except the ones who teach us extra subjects like English, Evs, etc. Term exams are mostly of 2:30 hrs and it's not that difficult to pass if you follow the teaching patterns which makes it easy rather than cramming the notes.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

I have no idea about internships since I'm in my second year. No big projects until now but I have prepared a few by myself. I think students can take internships online from websites like Linkedin. I have seen companies like Microsoft and others which provide unpaid internships on the basis of individual skills.

Placement Experience

4.5

I think in the 5-6th sem companies start visiting the college. The placements are really good, students who perform well had got offers from big companies like TCS, Infosys, Quick heal and many more. The highest package offered was about 10lpa and the average was around 2-5lpa. Professors told us that only a few students have not been offered any packages but the rest were offered good jobs.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees are around 45-50 thousand per year for general students (for other castes it's lower). I haven't come across any scholarships as I'm general but I have seen my friends of different castes taking various scholarships. I think special care has been taken this year because of the pandemic as many of the financial sectors have been shut down. So they have provided us the financial assistance by lowering our fees for this year only. No idea about jobs as I'm in my 2nd year.

Campus Life

4

There are a lot of fests like music, art, maths, sports, etc but due to the pandemic only a few have been done by an online method which included art competition and others but I haven't taken part in any of them. Everything is online as of now so I haven't visited the library but teachers have told us that all the teaching material like reference books and solved test papers have been kept in the library if we ever went to the college. There are sports activities as well those who have opted and wanted to take part but for now, everything is limited. No idea about clubs.

Other Applied Colleges

Fergusson College | Bsc Computer Science

I wasn't eligible due to my 12th %

Course Curriculum Overview:

The first year curriculum connects SSC and HSC syllabus making easier to approach further. The course can be divided into two as aspects of application and academic first the general theory course of animals including phylum study and the another goes with lab work techniques making it suitable for higher studying in both lab and field work. The three year course must be provided with free subject choice as per the new education policy (no compulsion for physics and chemistry) Slight improvement in planning feel experience in field tours and outcomes. Do mostly well planned but sometime the exam schedule of different subject choices students in first and second year of course can make a difficult for on time study required before exam.

A few negative effects are debt, partying, sexual assault, missing family and friends, and stress. Positive effects are he/she gets a degree, makes new friends, becomes more diverse, most likely gets a good job after graduating, and helps he/she to become more independent and grow as an individual.
