Remarks
DBS is one of the best B-schools in Dehradun and amongst the top-15 Private B-schools in North India. It also has a decent placement record with high packages being offered which made it my preferred choice alongside UPES which is great as well but finally comparing the ROI's I decided to apply for DBS and luckily I got in.
Course Curriculum Overview
The Faculty at DBS is extremely warm and welcoming. Most professors know the inside out of the entire industry and put maximum effort towards getting you ready for the corporate world. the classes are interesting and interactive, you surely get to learn more than just what's in the syllabus. Even the exam papers are set in a way that does not require you to just cram up and write but rather understand and explain, which is rare these days. There are a total of 4 semesters with 8 subjects each and specializations in Marketing, Finance, Human Resource Management, International Business, and Agribusiness. In addition, the students have to undertake research work (thesis) individually in the final semester.
Placement Experience
PhonePe. IDFC First Bank, Infoedge, Jindal Steel, Hindustan Times, BYJU's, Indigo Paints, Genpact India, Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein, Axis Bank, Bisleri, Jaro Education, Berger paints, HDFC, Kotak Mahindra Bank are a few of the recruiters that came for placements this year for our batch. Every student gets to atleast appear for 7-12 placement drives on campus with over 175 companies visiting. This years highest package went to a whooping 16.4 lakhs (Domestic)
Fee Structure And Facilities
Approx fee for the 1st year is around 2,70,000 and second year is 2,35,000 but there might be a few additions here and there which I am not a 100% sure about. The hostel and mess fee is separate to the mentioned amounts.
Campus Life
Extra curricular activities are an integral part of DBS; cultural activities, Industrial visits and fests are a regular affair. There are various clubs that one can join like the drama club, bagpackers, movie club, badminton club etc which is sure to keep you occupied. Rest, Dehradun is a very pretty place, there is never enough you can get out of it. There are also year round trips both national and international that one can go on.
Hostel Facilities
I did not opt for a hostel accommodation and so I am not very sure of the facilities or the types of rooms available with them. I was staying at a rented apartment with 2 of my friends and we paid a minimal amount of Rs.3000 each as rent.
Admission
I had to go through an online interview process which was quite simple and I could easily answer all the questions asked by the panel. I was asked a little bit about my hobbies, why was I opting for an MBA degree, what was the most challenging academic experience for me till now and a few GK questions about Dehradun. Other than this I was also asked a few questions about my graduation subjects which were very basic and could be answered easily. In all it was a good experience.
