Entrance Preview
I had done my schooling in the middle east upto 12th & had applied for the college through DASA program. I had also secured an govt. scholarship for my undergrad through Edcil India. The course that i was particularly keen on was the electronics & telecommunication engineering. This was amongst other regional engineering colleges that i had applied to.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course structure was quite rigid , apart from about 2 courses each sem that were electives the rest were fixed with almost little or no change batch after batch. In that sense the curriculum was quite dry & not very up to date to the current market. The course however was heavily focused on research in terms of content.
Internships Opportunities
No it does not provide an internship. However a few companies had visited campus for internship but only about 5-10 students per branch would have qualified. The average stipend was at about 15000.
College Events
We had a variety of technical, cultural & management festivals at our college. The festivals were organised by the students with funds also raised by the students itself. The main fest was the cultural fest that was held once a year was the single largest fest.It attracted a large number of students from various colleges across india who were housed on campus for the 3 days of the festival.
Fees and Financial Aid
The scholarship i availed was not by he college. The college however does have scholarship facilities for academic performance. However i am not aware of the details on the same.
Campus Life
The gender ratio on campus was about 1:8 for boys : girls which in my opinion is quite bad. Being also a conservative state , freedom for girls was quite restricted & conservative approach in terms of lifestyle preferences was advocated. The dorms were amongst the most fun experiences with most students living on campus. We had plenty other clubs to also be a part of ranging from books , social sector , art , sports , robotics etc.
Exam Structure
The exam structure was as follows - per semester we had 2 mid term exams and one finals. The mid terms were spaced at a month each and the end term at about 2 months from the 2nd mid term. The exam structure gave us a pretty chilled out time , and was not extremely hectic
Admission
Since i had received the Edcil India scholarship I had to choose from the colleges at which the same was applicable. I also had to procure the Dasa Admission form from the DASA website & fill upto 20 colleges which are a part of the DASA program and ones i would be keen in , in order of preference of choice. Once i did the same , i waited for their response. MNIT was my first choice & i received admit.
Faculty
The faculty was all highly qualified with many pursuing an phd & well knowledgeable about their respective fields with extensive years of work experience. However , there were very few with a genuine interest to impart knowledge and have bonds with students.
