Remarks

In 2017, I've completed my grade 12 in the stream of computer science with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics with 85.6%. I wanted to join my degree course in Comp science. Since there weren't many colleges with specialization in Computer Science under the University o, I had only fewer opportunities to apply for. And most of them were self-financed. I've applied at St. Joseph's Devagiri College and Farook College; I haven't attended it as both colleges were Autonomous. The next ones I've applied to were AWH College and Providence Women's College. I declined the acceptance as those colleges weren't having regularity in campus placements. The application process was via the portal of Calicut University. Depending on the Index marks of the candidates who applied for a particular course at a college, they'll be selected. 50% of the seats would be reserved for different categories, while the rest is provided on the basis of Index marks.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I chose B.Sc. Computer Science as I was more interested in studying about new technologies and I found out that College of Applied Science (IHRD) is providing best faculties in Computer SCience department with more than 15 years of experience. This college also provides 100% campus placements. Eventhough, the college do not have a huge campus space and hostel facilities, it provides greater warmth to the students by keeping their future in very safer zones. The syllabus, exams and valuation of colleges under Calicut University will be very tight compared to other universities. 1:4 is the faculty:student ratio at CAS IHRD, Calicut.

Internships Opportunities

4

Internshala is one of the companies that provide internships. Once the student completes any course of their choice under Internshala, he/she could apply to any company that hires a job related to that course with a stipend that ranges from 5000 to 2lacs. The projects are done during the 3rd year.

Placement Experience

5

CAS (IHRD), Calicut offers 100% campus placements for its students. From the beginning of the 1st semester, they're being trained and on reaching 5th semester he/she would get placed by huge companies including TCS, Wipro, TSC, Infosys, etc. If a student has any back papers, he/she should complete them without fail before ending their tenure in the degree program. To get placed, the only condition is that the student shouldn't have any supplementary papers. My plans after graduating are to continue higher studies in the central university, either at Delhi University or Jamia Millia Islamia.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees are paid at the beginning of each semester. For B.Sc. in Computer Science, one has to pay 17,320 per semester. i.e., 17,320x6 = Rs.1,03,920 for a complete programme of Degree in Computer Science. college isn't providing any scholarships. One has to avail scholarships via the Government either on the basis of marks or caste. In fact, a middle-class, average studying student won't be able to avail the scholarships. But on completing the 3rd year, for sure, he/she would be placed in huge companies including TCS, Wipro, Infosys, etc..

Campus Life

4.5

DRONA fest conducted at the beginning of the winter season is one of the tech fests celebrated by the students here. Youth festivals named 'kalolsavam' are also celebrated each year to showcase various talents in students. Sports including Cricket, Football, Badminton, and Tennis are being taught to students. On excelling in each item, the students would be taken to zonal level competitions and then to national and international levels. IEDC club is one of the active clubs in the college. Members of this club are expected to have a great interest in beginning a new venture under the Kerala Start-Up Mission (KSUM). Innovative ideas could be gained on being a member of this club. Next comes the NSS, which progresses with the aim at developing the personality of each volunteer by making him/her actively participating in various activities including charity, serving, social servicing, etc. The college also has a library that consists of books from different ranges.

Other Applied Colleges

Providence Women's College, Malaparamba, Calicut | B.Sc. Computer Science

They aren't offering any Campus placements.

I choosed this degree for me to pursue higher studies in uk or foreign country to study cosmetics related field. So for that bsc chemistry degree must have But this curriculum doesn't teach something base to that I think so.. For further studies the teachers need improvement to teach certain topics some teachers didn't even prepare to study students and lab safety is not in the lab.Because of the teaching the portions are done in last minutes and often exams are difficult in major subjects so they need to improve their study methods and often approach students nicely..

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is almost best. Curriculum doesn't influenced me in deciding this course. Curriculum should add internships. Currently there is no mandatory internship, if students are interested they can do internship during vacations. As we are learning psychology which need to be practiced in real world settings, curriculum must include real world training to help students understand things more effectively. Currently intervel between exams are non existent. Internal exams, then semester exams, you blink once, next internal exams, followed by semester exams. Syllabus is understandable, can learn if you try. Exams are also manageable. Real world examples and stories can be included in teaching methods, as psychology is related to humans and human interaction, to get better grasp of concepts. Rather than focusing on passing exam, should focus on the concepts and understand them in-depth. There are a lot of theories to study by heart. And there are many repetitive topics that overlap, but in different semesters.

I feel in love with mathematics in plus two time. The coursee are more application based when compared to other. Out college being an autonomous college has good grip to keep up to the level of good education. Overall teaching methods and syllabus are very good. Frequency of exams are troublesome during the last time of year because all the programmes like youth festival annual day etc come together

My course is Bsc Biotechnology. It is a research associated course. Its main scope is in research. But in every industry let it be medical or industrial a biotechnologist is required. I would like more practical knowledge than theory knowledge in this course as it is needed to be implemented in labs hands on experience is essential. Exams are conducted every 6 months as semester. Class tests and model exams are conducted frequently. Assignments, projects, seminar ,etc.. are given every month.

I chose Bsc electronics, it has an attractive curriculum and some of them are influenced me in some way. The facilities are well-known about the curriculum preparing and all. The current curriculum is good but it needs some changes. Include more practicals is one of my suggestion. Teaching methods are good it doesn't need any change. Exams are conducted by Kerala University, so the college can't do anything in main exams but the college will complete all the portions before the exam date it is sure.
