Course Curriculum Overview
The future of our nation lies in Rural India. We can not go on and on converting everything into metro cities and megacities instead we need to focus on how to develop our rural India while maintaining its core characteristics. Since I hail from the village only I am very much into this vision of mine. That's why I chose Rural Management whilst I had the opportunity for a general MBA. Faculty to student ratio was around 1:5. That is quite a healthy ratio I would say. All the Faculties are from premiere Institutes Such as IRMA, XUB, IITs, IIMs etc. having vast experience in Industry as well as teaching. Exams were conducted on time and if you are good with basics then you can get through it.
Internships Opportunities
Many good companies come for Internships as well such as OLM, ORMAS, Ambuja Cement Foundation, Technoserve, Our Food, ICSSR, APMAS etc. They also provide stipends to the students as per the industry standard. Projects are given such as Study on Climate change, WASH, Water harvesting, GI Tag, Sanitation etc. The outcome was to prepare students for real-world challenges.
Placement Experience
4th semester onwards students become eligible for the placements. Companies such as OLM, Annapurna Finance, Satin Credit, Ambuja Cement Foundation, APMAS, Dhristi, The Goat Trust, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank etc. and offers were made around 60 to 70. The highest package was around 7.5 lakhs and the average salary was around 4.5 lakhs given the Pandemic situation. Till now more than 80% of students have been placed. Currently, I am working in the CSR division.
Fees and Financial Aid
If we compare with other institutes offering Rural Management then KSRM would be one of the best in terms of ROI. Students coming from the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) studied with a full scholarship. Our Fees have never been hiked since its inception.
Campus Life
KIIT fest is very famous. It happens around the winter during December month. The whole University participates in it. It is a lot of fun and learning as well. As far as it a question of the library we have a world-class central library where you can almost anything you name it. The classroom was fully equipped such as AC, a Digital classroom etc. We also have world-class facilities for sports activities. Many students from here also took part in National and International level games such as Asian Games, Olympics etc. We also have KSAC (Kalinga Student Activity Center) for student activities that are solely run by the students only.
Hostel Facilities
A double occupancy room was provided. It was non AC room. The room was not very big but was compact and spacious. The meal was also quite good if we see the hostel food. It was a residential program so there was no separate need for registration of hostel.
Interview Experience
GD was quite interesting. It was different from any conventional GD. We have a scenario-based case study and based on that we had a discussion and had to conclude a group. Other criteria for admission were Entrance Exam Score, Grad marks, 12th marks etc. I did prepare for this by getting into coaching. It helped me to overcome my hesitation in public speaking.
