Entrance Preview

KIIT has its own entrance KIITEE. Its entrance form is free of cost and has examination centres across all major cities. Its result is generally published very early. I scored a All India rank of 1548. I opted for this college because my close relatives are alumni and got good reviews from them.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum is at par with other institutes. Books are provided by the college and most of them are foreign publications. There are regular classes and 75% attendance is must. The lab experiments are weekly. Also the library has a lot of books including e-journals.

Internships Opportunities

The college hosts internship fest where major players like Dell, Amazon, Free Charge, and many startups have come for recruiting interns. The stipend depends on the type of company you are selected. kIIT also has a MOU with AISEC.

Placement Experience

4.5

The placements and Job opportunities are good with companies like Amazon, Dell, Deloitte, Direct Eye, Capgemini, SAP LABS and many other companies coming for recruitment. Last year the university had record placement in day 1, with over 2000 job offers to students.

College Events

4.5

There are several different fests and events going on in different schools of KIIT. KIIT has its annual KIIT FEST which is a 3-day event. It has competitions, Dj nights, Fashion show as well a Celeb Performance nights. The event is attended by over 25000 students. It also hosts the famous KIITMUN.

Fees and Financial Aid

Loans are provided by all major nationalised banks. Scholarships are provided to students with CGPA higher than 9.5. Loan amount is directly credited to the college so the student doesn't need to worry about the financials.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni network is not so well organised there is no official network to interact with them. The college does host events for alumni but the interaction is limited. Though on a personal level the interaction is good. The seniors are helpful and provide useful information and career advice.

Exam Structure

The exam structure is simple marks are divided in 40-60 format where 40 marks are internal which include 15 marks for quizzes, attendance, assignments and rest 25 are Mid-Semester Exam. The End- Semester exam are of 60 marks. Papers are digitally scanned and students can view the papers on their laptop and send for review if not satisfied with the marks.

Admission

The admission process is simple. They call you for counselling where you have to select your branch. Then they verify your certificates. A counselling fees is collected which also includes the cost for laptop. If you opt out of the college they keep a fee of around INR 10000 as counselling fee and reimburse the rest.

Faculty

4

The faculty of the college is good. Especially the senior faculties. Most of them have PhD and encourage students to do research on their own. The faculties have published many research papers. And many have gone to foreign universities to advance their careers. So faculties are definitely good.

Students are eligible for placement from their 3rd year onwards. It has been only 2-3 months but I have seen several companies arriving at the college, prominent ones being Flipkar,Deloitte, Xerox, TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Microsoft, Dell and several others including startups. There is no accurate data on how many offers have been made this year, but there are rumours that more than 95% of the eligible students have got placements. After getting a degree my plans are if I dont land into a satisfying job then I will start my preparation of the military or start a new business.

Placement Experience:

Placements in our college are good but not great. Th overall performance of students getting placement from every branch course combined is more than seventy percent. But the percentage in branch to branch respective wise is different , as Computer science engineering, Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering and Electrical Engineering have higher placement rates than any other courses. From Seventh semester students became eligible for sitting in placements. You can say from the start of Fourth year students sit in placements. Many companies visit and offer placements to our students but the big companies are TCS( Tata consultancy services) , Infosys, Adani Limited , Reliance Limited , Tata Power and Co.. The highest package offered to our branch course ( Electrical Engineering ) Is 13 LPA by Tata Power. The percentage of students getting placed by Electrical Engineering is pretty good and is 77%. Overall percentage of students from all branches is 72%. My plans after getting the degree is simple. I am preparing for placements and also for gate exam . I want to give myself a chance . I will try to get a big placement from a big company as I want . If that doesn't go according to my plan I will try to qualify gate exam and will do Masters in Technology in a. Higher Institute.
