Entrance Preview

I got directly into Second Year ,i.e, S.E of the four year B.E course as I did my diploma in Computer Engg. So, no other entrances were needed. Initially I was looking for a college in Mumbai City but ended up in PIIT because I scored an agg. of 73% in my final year of diploma and also a lot of people including my friends in other colleges in harbour line told me how good Pillai's College is for Engineering.

Internships Opportunities

There is no such internship for B.E students yet. but M.E students can learn as well teach B.E students.

Placement Experience

4

Coming down to placements, among all the colleges in harbour line, PIIT is considered one of the best college. Companies like TCS, Infosys, L&T, Mahindra, etc. visits the campus and at least 50% of the students are placed. Either they are given internships or a full time job.

Fee Structure And Facilities

In engineering, its about Rs1,18,000 for general category, about Rs70,000 for OBC and around 14,000 for SC/ST/NT. Despite of such expensive fee structure, students don't get what they need. Electricity runs out a lot of times in a day. There is no dedicated lab for students who wish to surf or want to do their work in college it self.

Campus Life

3

Campus life is good. Overall its a mixed population of different students from different backgrounds and cultures. One can take part in sports or CSI or IEEE as per their interest but college timing don't permit that as no attendance is given for extracurricular. Gender ratio is kind of equaled everywhere but in Mech and Auto Engg. where, there are barely any girls.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni network is good and senior students do help sometimes. If taken a part in some activity from CSI or IEEE or AESA MESA then seniors would helps in the workshops. Some seniors keep on researching in the research lab and also demonstrate their work.

Exam Structure

As it has to follow the Mumbai University, two unit tests and one end sem exam is fixed with external practicals and vivas. If they just follow this much it would be great but apart from above exams they conduct study camp and prelims just before the external university practicals and vivas which becomes too hectic as students have to complete their files and study for the exams.

Admission

I got admission from the CAP process in the third round as I was waiting for a college in Mumbai. In the first round I got Vasantdada Patil for Computer Engg. which is in Sion which I refused to go to then I got Pillai's College HOC, Rasayani. I declined that because it was too far for a guy like me who stays at Dadar. So finally in third round I opted for PIIT.

Placement Experience:

When the students are in there final year then most of the students apply for the job interview but the students who gained some skills and have pracitical experience in their field then only they will get selected in vapus placements. lot of companies visit to the college and offer jobs but asks for strong resume and skills in the students.

Remarks:

he placements were pretty well. There were many students who were placed in MNCs. Most of the companies were IT based companies. Amongst all, only 1 core electronics company came to our college for recruitments. The highest package was around 4 LAP. Our college also provides opportunities for other off-campus drives which took place nearer to Solapur. The companies that came to the campus were mainly MNCs providing an average package of 2.5 LPA which is pretty well for a fresher graduated from a non-government college
