Internship review of IITBBS

My admission process at the Indian Institute of Bhubaneswar was very smooth. At IIT BBS, selective volunteers of the senior batch are given the opportunity to help newcomers in the admission process and help to face the home loneliness for some students. We call these students SG's or student guides. We get help from SG's during our entire college life. Coming to the Admission process, we were allotted a time slot to submit/verify documents. It was very simple and fast. Document verification took less than 25 minutes. At admission time I got my institute email id, wifi password, ERP password. The overall Admission process was very nice.

I choose Civil Engineering because I always want a creative branch and civil engineering provide it very well. The faculty to student ratio at my college is 1:8. Due to this low ratio, students receive more interaction from teachers and teachers and have manageable work to track each student. The qualification of teachers are all the faculty members have PhD degree in their respective field. Every year since its establishment teachers receive many awards across the globe. Teachers have teaching assistants with them who helps student in problem-solving. Teaching methods used by teachers is both conventional and innovative. The teacher uses much helpful software, online simulators to teach students. In this time of pandemic teachers swifts to online teaching without delay of a single day. Exams are conducted in a very regular way. In each semester there is one Mid-Semester exam and one is End-Semester. Teache also regularly take quizzes for an internal assistant. Exams are quite tougher.

Students are eligible to do internships after the completion of their 4th semester. Rolled out companies are Amazone, Flipkart, Goodman Sach, Adobe, Maruti, Indian Oil, NTPC, NHIA. There is no restriction by the institute on branches to sit for placement and internship interviews.

From the 3rd semester, students are eligible for campus placements. Companies visited are Google, Flipkart, Amazone, NVIDIA, Qualcomm etc. The highest package was 43.9 lakh per annum for the last academic year and the average package for the last academic year was 15.9 lakh per annum.

As my college is a government institute, the fee is not so high compared with other institutes. The fee at IIT Bhubaneswar is semester-based. And it is also based on the category of students. The fees of general and other backward class category students is 1,06,609 INR whereas 6,609 INR for Schedule Cast, Schedule tribe and PWD students. The tuition fee of Schedule cast and Schedule is waived off by the institute. The name of the scholarship is 1. Merit-Cum-Means scholarship, which is given to the top 20% of students of the batch. National Scholarship Program (NSP) for Schedule cast and Schedule tribe students. Financial Assistance:- College provide a medical insurance card to every student through which we get insurance up to 1 lakh rupees and can buy up to 2000 Rs per month. College did not provide any kind of part-time or full-time job on campus for students. MTech and PhD students get a stipend of 12,500 INR and 33,000 INR respectively on the campus.

There are 5 fests at IIT Bhubaneswar namely 1. Alma Fiesta(Cultural Fest ) conducted in the 2nd week of January. 2. Wisssinere ( Tech Fest ) conducted in the 4th week of January. 3. E-Summit (entrepreneurship Cell) conducted in the 3rd week of January. 4. Ashwadmadha ( Sports Fest ) conducted in the 2nd week of February. 5. Food Fest conducted in the 4th week of February. A decent number of books & journals available in the library. Classrooms are new and well furnished with an air conditioner facility. Sports facilities on the campus are very good with newly made cricket, hockey, football ground and volleyball, basketball and tennis courts. There is one Student Activity Centre for all kinds of EAA's.

There is a total of 5 hostels of which 3 are boys and 2 are for girls. A separate room for every student right from admission is given. In each room, there is a fan, table, chair, bed and cupboard. There is 1 washroom among 4 students and a measure and water cooler facility are also available on each floor. Meal at IIT BBS is fantastic, no compromise with the quality of food. The mess provides 4-time meals a day. The menu is decided by the students and the menu comprise both north Indian and south Indian dishes. The registration process of the hostel is done along with the admission process. Hostel charge is very less that is about 10,000 INR per semester. The hostel is mandatory at IITBBS.
