Entrance Preview

I took M.P.C group for my 10 plus 1 and 2 classes and immediately started preparing for IIT JEE examination as it lets you do engineering from some of the prestigious engineering colleges of India. I got 296 rank in SC reserved category in the examination and opted for computer science and engineering in IIT BHU. I have heard from seniors that computer science branch has good reputation in IIT BHU and has 100% placement through the years.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course for CSE was well rounded including traditional topics like various programming language and also other engineering subjects to develop the student as a complete Engineer. The 1st year syllabus was same for all the branches as there was an option of branch change based on the marks of the 1st year. Later on each branch would specialise in their particular courses.

Internships Opportunities

After the completion of the 3rd year there is a compulsory credit for Internship. Various reputed companies come to the college to take the best students for internship. It also feels like a mini placement package as most of the students who get internship from reputed institutes usually get pre placement offers after the completion of their internship based on their performance.

Placement Experience

4.5

CSE branch of IIT BHU has a reputation 100% placement over the years. These placements of students are also in highly reputed companies like Microsoft, Apple, Google, Amazon, etc. The average package of students in CSE branch is 12 lpa. There is a rule of one dream package to allow maximum number of students to get good packages and prevent few students to bag all the jobs. Placement cell of the College also invites companies from India and abroad to secure the students good job offers.

College Events

5

Every year during the even semester 3 fests would take place one after the other. Kashi Yatra - Cultural Fest during the 1st or 2nd week of January, Spardha - Sports fest during the end of January and Magnum Opus during the February. Each fest is unique in its own way and students from various college through out the India are invited to participate in them.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Each semester fees would be around 14,000 and includes the College tuition fees, Hostel facility, Internet, Library and other facilities. Comparitively to other IIT's the fee structure of IIT BHU is a lot cheaper as all the students irrespective of General, SC, ST, OBC are charged the same. In addition to this Mess fees would be charged based on the amount of meals we take every month.

Fees and Financial Aid

Pratibha scholarship was awarded to students who cleared IIT JEE and whose parents have income below 2 lpa. Students who could not qualify for the pratibha scholarship can avail loan facility from SBI branch located within the college itself. I did not get scholarship nor I availed loan facility as the college fees was less and was not a huge burden for my parents.

Campus Life

4

Gender ratio is highly skewed in IIT BHU as the number of girls who qualify IIT JEE exam is very low. In my branch there were 80 boys (Both B.Tech and dual) and only 2 girls. Some branches like civil engineering do not have girls at all. Campus life would be attending the classes in the morning and lab in the afternoon, After that students are free either to play or relax or pursue their hobbies.

Exam Structure

Usually the odd semester would be little hectic with 2 sets of class tests and a final Semester exams before the end of December. Each class test carries 15 marks and end semester exam carries 60 marks. Grading is absolute and will be awarded based on the total number of marks obtained. Even semester would be generally more free than the odd semester and has cultural, sports and technical fests to rejuvenate the students.

Admission

After the declaration of college aIlotment I came to know that I got CSE in IIT BHU and was pretty satisfied as many of my inter friends also got other branches in the same college. Later I got a letter from the college administration with the details of date of admission and how to reach the college from any place in India. I followed the instructions and reached the college before the admission date.

Faculty

4

The faculty of CSE includes professor of all ages. It has young professors like Dr. Bhaskar Biswas and Dr. Ravi Shankar Singh and also experienced professors like Dr. A.K Tripati and Dr. A.K. Aggarwal. All the professors are well qualified and PhD holders from various reputed colleges of India and abroad. They bring dynamism to the subject and also are highly efficient in making the students understand even the most difficult topics.

Placement Experience:

Integral University in the third of engineering asks us to take time out for placements training. Students who haven't done any internships are asked to do one or attend the workshops organized at the university. Thus in the final year, we are fully prepared and companies also are never disappointed as maximum students clear the interviews with ease.

Placement Experience:

My college has an average placement of 6LPA. Placement eligibility starts from the end of 5th semester, but when I got promoted to 5th semester, placements declined due the the restructuring in placement cell. So our batch missed the opportunity to attend any placements. In year 2022, the highest placement was around 22LPA and in year 2023, it declined to 9 LPA as there was restructuring in team. After getting my degree I will look for carrier opprotunities on my own, as I have not experienced any placement in my college years.
