Remarks
I applied to NMIMS Mumbai, IMT Ghaziabad, IIFT, and XLRI. I could not clear the cutoff for IIFT and XLRI and joined NMIMS because I preferred Mumbai. I did not avail any quota for any college. There were no minimum marks and age criteria as I recall. The most important thing for NMAT preparation is practice. Speed of solving the questions and presence of mind to leave the hard questions is key. Once the cutoff is cleared, you need to prepare for CDPI. Case discussion covers a wide range of topics, so be up-to-date on current affairs related to business, technology, foreign affairs, etc.
Course Curriculum Overview
I am pursuing general management as a specialization in my second year. In the first year, a wide range of subjects is covered from marketing, finance, operations, communication, analytics, economics, and human resources. The faculties are experts in their fields and they will help in gaining a conceptual clarity that is required for summer placements as well.
Internships Opportunities
A large number of companies come for internships and offer good stipends. It is important to prepare your CV according to the role you want and being thorough with your preparation. The roles offered are very competitive and challenging.
Placement Experience
Preparing your CV and being confident during GDs and interviews is extremely important. A large number of companies come for placements, so keeping calm and being positive during the process is very important.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure is at par with other colleges. The college provides opportunities for scholarship and financial assistance as well. One can pursue an internship along with regular studies if one wants.
Campus Life
The annual fest is conducted in Nov-Dec where all clubs participate. The college has a number of clubs and committees based on interest and specialization. They conduct seminars, quizzes, games, etc throughout the year. NMIMS has access to world-renowned journals.
Interview Experience
Case discussion includes a group of 8-10 students who are given a case related to a business problem. 5-10 mins are provided for preparation and then the discussion starts. The key is to provide good points and actively listen to others. Any rudeness towards other candidates can negatively impact your chances. The interview can be based on the submitted SOP or your work experience if one has any. Prepare hygiene questions thoroughly and above all, be confident.
