Cleared UGC NET exam withJRF (72 percent). Language phenomena are so interesting to look at. So took up the course for developing a scientific approach towards languages

Course Curriculum Overview

The course is designed wonderfully. There are theory papers such as Sociolinguistics and Ethnolinguistics, Psycholinguistics, Computational Linguistics also applied options like Translations, also Dissertations.

Internships Opportunities

I don't whether they have now anything related to linguistics but definitely we were allowed to go with our teachers when they were working on their minor research projects.

Placement Experience

College provides a chance for the recent passed out students to work as project assistants wrt the research projects going on the college..

College Events

The college revival days would be full of healthy cultural, literature and sports competitions .Also National level seminars and workshops were organized. I participated in poetry competition, Badminton.. Also in seminar on 'Language Contact Situations in India', 'Indian Languages with multiple Writing Systems', etc.

Campus Life

More males than females in our college especially in the Archaeology department .may be because females are not encouraged by their parents to choose this field. Students from different countries such as Thailand, Iran interacted without any problem.

Hostel Facilities

Hostel accommodation is good. Two students have to share a room. Mess is also provided. Sometimes had issues with regard to food as I am a non-vegetarian but had to adjust. Quality was OK.

External Expense: Rs.2000 - Rs.4000

Alumni/Alumna

Senior students were very helpful. Could not join the alumni as I came back to my native place.

Exam Structure

The exam schedule was OK. The internal exams were conducted once a week which helped us to prepare for our semester end exams.

Placement Experience:

I am still studying so not having a personal experience of placements. But well known companies like Infosys,Wipro,Tcs comes in our college to hire computer Science graduates and post graduates. I am sure there are placements available for commerce students as well.

Remarks:
