Remarks

The Sinhgad Institutes is a very reputed chain of institutions. The college was part of the the same family. RMDSSOE has a good reputation and intake for Mechanical Engineering and hence I chose it. The admission process was thorough CAP rounds. I chose this college in my first round itself. I was advised and foretold about good placement opportunities in Sinhgad Institutes fraternity, so I had no second thoughts. Then again my CET score was average so this was the best option I had.The campus is huge but it is shared by a school too. So that is something chaotic. Canteen is not so good and a bit small. But library makes upto it.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course is under Savitribai Phule Pune University so it is upto the mark. The curriculum is good. Practicals are not so good though as the equipments are old and rusty they don't really give accurate results. Academics is well planned. There are fests and knowledge fares. Tech fests are exciting and they are very good in aspect of technology. The college participates in various national level competition for Mechanical engineering students and has even won a lot of competitions. Faculty is a mix of experienced and novice lectures. The experienced ones do have a lot of skill and are very informative and helpful. The new recruits are not that good a teacher and themselves do not understand some concepts , so we are on our own for that subject.

Internships Opportunities

4

I haven't opted for internship. But my colleagues have opted and are getting stipend upto 15000 per month. The college provides Letter of recommendation for internship. Mahindra and Mahindra, Tata Motors, Ford motor etc are some major companies that hire interns. The projects are mostly about research and observations in mechanical industrial work. The tasks are related to recording and analysis data from different machines that are running in the industry.

Placement Experience

4

There is very good placement cell supportive and college has tie up with many different companies. The placement is centralised and is held up in vadgaon campus for all Sinhgad colleges. There are ample of opportunities and the college provides placement assistance from last year of course to one year after completion. Students are eligible for placement after 6th semester of engineering. Companies like TCS , Accenture , Cognizant , Infosys, Atos, Syntel etc have visited and average package is around 3-4 LPA. I have been placed in TCS and have received offer letter and I am planning on joining.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure for Mechanical engineering is around 80-82000 per year. There are scholarship opportunities based on economical background like EBC and TFWS. Based on caste there are scholarships for obc, sc/st too. Financial assistance is good from college as someone not able to afford fees in one go can take it upto management and they do help them pay in installments. There was no on campus job with stipend but College provided letter of recommendation if we want to do internship under other companies.

Campus Life

4

The life at Campus is happening, there are atleast 3000+ students on campus from 5 different Engineering streams and Masters courses as well. The social life is very good as seniors are very supportive and helpful. Campus is very big and roomy. Classrooms are very comfortable and sufficient and equipped with technology like projectors and sound systems . The infrastructure is good and sufficient for even 3000+ students. Its a 7 floor building so there are different floors alloted for different courses. There is basement too for library which is very good and equipped with all latest journals and books. There are a lot of social clubs made according to interests like music club, dance club, drama club etc. Sports and extracurricular activities are carried out in the college ground and there is yearly inter and intra college competition too for each sport. I was a member of a drama club called 'Kalakand' which is run by students itself and is present on social media handles too.

Admission

There was no interview or GD for admission. It was solely based on CET score and CAP rounds. The CAP rounds were held at state level and we put colleges from all over the state. Colleges were allotted based on the CET score and there were 3 CAP rounds. Based on seats availability colleges would proceed further in CAP rounds. Other than CAP rounds direct admission through management quota is also possible by paying full fees for 4 years at once is seats are available.
