Graduating from VELS

I chose to study here because i felt it was comparatively cheaper to study BBA here than other private colleges in my area and also there was no admission test conducted here. It was all based on the performance of class 10+2 marksheets. The minimum criteria was having scored at least 50%. For admission i applied from the college website. I was guided by the university councilor. I paid Rs 1000 for the application fee . The documents i submitted was my 10+2 marksheets, my Tc and character certificate including my personal details as well. In the end i made my payment after submitting the documents and then i was ready to enroll for my classes.

I chose BBA because I wanted to learn the skills and traits of business. My father is a businessman and he is very hardworking. So i wanted to expand his business, but before i could do that, I had to learn how to do it. In this course, I learnt about financial accounting, Business administration, entrepreneurship skills and how to develop. Most importantly i also learnt about psychological business and communication. Our faculty consisted of Dr.M.Thaiyalnayaki who was the head professor with a teaching experience of 31 years. Mr. M.Prabhakar Christopher David who is an assistant professor as well. Overall we had eight faculty members to teach this course. Our exams are all semester based which consists of college exam and university exam. Attendance of 75% is compulsory.

The university does have a placement cell for each of its department. In order to be eligible for placements, a student should not have any back papers and should maintain a good record during the college life. It tires its best to give all its students placement, with the aim being 100%. Some of the companies that visited during my placement time were Teleperformance for HR , manager and even customer support post. Then companies like Amazon, Wipro, and a few start up companies had visited our campus. The average package these company offered me was 3 lakhs p.a. I do not have any idea about the highest package but from what i have heard it goes as much as 10 lakhs p.a.

The fee structure for the first semester is Rs 60,000 after which it is Rs 30,000 per semester. The fees are hiked by 2 to 5 % every year for new joinees. We do have scholarships which is merit cum need based. However we do not have any part time or on campus jobs availabe.

Our campus celebrates events like women's day, alumni meet, sporting events like football and cricket tournament, followed by college athletics. It also celebrates freshers party, convocation program and has facilities of library, auditorium room and a hostel for boys as well as girls. It also hosts an annual college fest known as Nakahatra.
