My college experience

I got 1301 all India rank in NCHMCT JEE exam, in the first counselling I got IHM Jaipur but I didn't opt it, I got to know about AIHM Chandigarh from a family friend of mine and he was very confident about the faculty and facilities there. Being from the general category I got this college in second counselling. For documentation and other procedures, I was asked to report nearest IHM which was IHM Gwalior for me.

I chose this course because of my interest in the kitchen and with the help of teachers I got firm in making this a career choice. The faculty is amazing with years of experience and knowledge with PhD holding teachers 6-semester exams were way too easy for both practically and theoretically.

The internship is the most important part of this degree, it gives an overlook of the industry and helps individual students to make themselves fit for this place. Doing an internship with all the big hotel chains and stand-alone properties is a wonderful exposure and topping up the hard work with research projects in 5-6th semester helps to gather knowledge practically.

With 95% of placement, my batch was at the top to get jobs in various companies like Oberoi, Taj, Marriott, Haytt, Lalit, Leela, ITC, IHG, QSRs like McD, Domino's, KFC, Starbucks retails like Reliance. Post covid scenes have been affected but I have started working as a Chef in Trident Hotel.

I'm not sure about the fees hike policy as it was almost the same for our batch during all 6 semesters. There were different scholarships for various categories of students. 3 years ended with job opportunities in top brands like Oberoi, Taj, Marriott etc. And I'm currently working with the Oberoi group after campus placement.

Being a professional institute there were fest and events organised to develop student capabilities with the guidance of teachers and non-teaching staff From managing a budget to educating people on social issues, spreading awareness about social evils etc. Curricular activities, sports, art and craft fair are annual activities conducted on various occasions like paryatan parv. The year ends with an annual function with the release of the annual magazine (which is completely managed, compiled and created by the students) and various annual awards in academics and co-curricular activities. Different clubs set marks in every event, in managing and organising functions with students only. The newly added photography club and young minds running behind the attractive website shows talent in every field.

The hostels have limited capacity for which students have to make it to the merit list of college which is actually good for maintaining healthy competition among students and gives a fair chance to everyone to be eligible for a hostel. Hostel mess is well ventilated place with a TV and cyclic menu for all the 3 major meals. Hostel and food are quite affordable and safe for students. It keeps students in discipline and maintains a routine. Sector 40,41, 42,43 etc are good locations at walking distance of the college.
