Remarks
I applied for wbjee got a rank under 30000 but due to the late counselling timeline in the month of September due to that, I had to take admission in shuats as its counselling begins on June 25th. Shuats conducts its own entrance exam and based on the rank obtained your counselling date is given and you are given the choice to select any of the available department and stream based on seat availability. I got a rank of 632 in the entrance exam admission process is simple as the counselling date is mentioned on the result card and you have to carry the required documents on the respective date as mentioned. You will be offered choices based on the seat availability of different departments and their respective courses. There is no personal interview or gd during the admission process you just need to carry your rank card and required 12th exam document for verification.
Course Curriculum Overview
I had a keen interest in mechanical engineering so I chose me as my course there are a total of 120 Mechanical Engineering seats available in shuats with 2 separate sections of 60 students each. The faculty were average qualified especially the new recruited one but some of the experienced faculty were IIT PhD but overall majority of faculty were poor in their teaching techniques with less focus on practical and application-based knowledge and more focus on mug up reading. Exams are conducted timely according to time table and date sheet with no delays and the difficulty of the examination is easy as you can soon predict the question format and sometimes even the question paper.
Internships Opportunities
No companies visited for internship in the Mechanical Engineering department during my 4 years of BTech university was providing a few training roles but no internship roles were offered from the university side.
Placement Experience
From the 7th semester, students are eligible for campus placement. only a few companies visited during my engineering courses like Mahindra tractor and a few local companies with a maximum package of 4.5 LPA. To my knowledge, the highest package offered was around 4.5 LPA and an average of around 3 LPA. Only a few students got placement in a batch of 120 mechanical engineering students only a maximum of 12 students got placement. My plans are to study MTech after clearing gate examination or persue a PSU job after clearing gate examination.
Fees and Financial Aid
There is no fee hike based on a semester by semester basis. Once you get the admission and whatever fees they mentioned in the prospectus they will not increase the college fees fee hike is only applicable to the next batch of admission takers and the cost of the study is cheap approximately 5.5 lakh overall college fees for 8 semesters approximately there are scholarship programs for financially week students which can be known from VC office of the university, job recruitment is very poor with 2 to 3 company only coming for campus recruitment very very low package mostly around 3-4 lakhs per annum in mechanical engineering department but some department like dairy department and agriculture department offers better recruitment with a lot of company to recruit with a good package.
Campus Life
No annual fest and tech fest was organised during my 4 years of studying. Agriculture field-related books and journals are available in huge amount but core engineering field books and journals are available in very limited numbers a very basic classroom with no smart board classrooms are not like the IIT type you can visit the university to basically see the physical infrastructure present there. Sports club are present but they are generally divided based on which state you belong to every state students have created their own sports group. The annual sports events are organised of 3 days duration with a wide variety of sport's events as the campus is very big to explore and play games. There are a lot of cultural social and engineering groups based on your interest like the mechanical group to guitar group and singing group.
Hostel Facilities
The different tier of the hostel are available based on price rate non-ac to ac rooms with wifi campus, a bed, a chair, and a table is provided to each student. There are different types of mess present for the meal and each mess has its own menu and food quality is ok. The registration process for hostel allotment is done at the time of admission. As there is a limited number of rooms in the hostel so there is quite a rush to get a hostel room. if possible you should allot a new hostel building room, not the old hostel building room and hostel rooms are also cheap price ranging better 25000 to 30000 for non-ac and 72000 for ac rooms during my course time from 2014 to 2018. If the hostel is not your choice then you can rent a room or pg which are present outside the campus within a 1 km radius in a large amount. Living outside is also quite safe as I have spent 3 years of my college renting a flat with my roommates.
