Remarks

There were many colleges to which I had applied. I had applied to Amity University for Bachelors in Computer Applications, Pandit Din Dayal Energy University for BBA, Ashoka University for BBA, GLS Ahmedabad for BBA, OP Jindal University for BBA, but I did not attend any of these colleges as I found St. Xavier's to be more reputed than these colleges and for what I wanted to become in my life, St Xavier's was the best option available. The faculty of St Xavier's college is extremely experienced and the curriculum was the best. St Xavier's Ahmedabad provides merit-based admission to the students and the admission process is extremely easy. We just have to fill the admission form and wait for the merit list to come out. Cut off for every year is different and the merit list will be different for different boards.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I chose a bachelor's in computer applications (BCA) because I wanted to do something in the tech field. I'm driven towards software development hence I chose BCA. I have a lot of friends who are my seniors in St Xavier's and I had heard a lot about college life and about campus infrastructure from them. The faculty to student ratio is quite good in my college. Teachers pay a good amount of attention to each and every student in the class and because of this learning becomes extremely easy. The faculty in my college is extremely experienced and they give us plenty of practical knowledge through lab classes hence it becomes easy to understand everything. We have examinations every semester and mid-semester exams in the middle of every semester. We have our viva exams and assignments on which we are marked. The exams are not that tough and we can score easily if we pay attention in our class.

Placement Experience

4

5th-semester students are eligible for campus placements. Large-cap companies such as Oracle, Microsoft, Infosys visit the campus with opportunities in the field of software development. Companies like P&G, HLL, CITIBANK visit our college for jobs in the field of system administration. Students can get a package of up to 3 lakhs Rs per annum. 70% of SXCA students get hired by these companies. My plan after completing my bachelor's degree is that I will go for a master's degree in the same field.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees for each semester are approximately Rs 16000. Due to covid, there was some percentage of reduction in the fees. Students have a higher chance of getting scholarships as the scholarship process is extremely friendly. Each and every student gets an equal opportunity to get an education at a less cost for the people who are not financially strong. Financial assistance is also provided by the college administration for the people who cannot afford the fees for education. Every year scholarships and prizes are given to students. The college has a separate fund for this.

Campus Life

5

A cultural fest is organized every year in St Xavier's college. Students get an opportunity to showcase and explore their talents and skills. This year due to covid, there was an online cult fest organized by our college and it was an amazing experience. A huge library is there in our college which the students can access whenever they want. The library contains a humongous variety of books that the students can use to expand their knowledge. Labs with computers and projectors are available in our college for getting practical knowledge and obtaining object-oriented knowledge. St Xavier’s college has a huge cricket ground, a football field, a volleyball court, a basketball court and experienced coaches for our training. Extracurricular activities such as NSS, NCC, and PGOP programs are also available.

Other Applied Colleges

amity University noida | Bachelors in computer applications

St Xaviers is a much more reputed college and the faculty is much more experienced.

Remarks:

Advantages: without these new opportunities, many students would never have realized a college degree was still possible. The advantages include: 1. Reduced Cost The competitiveness for enrolling students in online courses (or to complete degree programs), literally from across the globe, has created a marketplace that enables students to enroll in almost any course provided by dozens of institutions. This competition has driven both the cost to the institution and the price for the student downward due to almost unlimited enrollments. 2. Accessibility Similarly, the online course environment and proliferation of such opportunities enables students to enroll in courses at multiple times during the calendar year and to complete the required work for each course on their own time, that is, around work, family and other personal obligations. Students are also able to complete courses at a single location, usually their own home, a library or some other designated space. The alleviation of time and space restrictions for learning is a tremendous enhancement to this degree completion opportunity. 3. Fulfillment of Dreams Perhaps the most significant of the results associated with these opportunities for many students is the realization they are able to earn a degree, which might have seemed unattainable until now. Many of the barriers to completion are removed from their paths and a college degree is suddenly within reach. Disadvantages: capitalizing on these opportunities may come with some risk. The consumer of any commodity must always acknowledge the “buyer beware” warning label, and this is unfortunately also true with higher education. Some disadvantages (warnings) include: 1. Inflated Expectations (especially for transfer) Sometimes students may become so enthralled with their new opportunities for courses they might make assumptions about how their newly-earned credits will apply to their previous degree program or transfer to the institutions they previously attended. Academic policies at a former institution might allow for limited courses taken at other institutions, have time limits on specific courses or have substantial changes in degree requirements. Clearly, students must confer with the institution from which they intend to earn a degree before enrolling in courses. 2. Coherence of the Degree Program When students take advantage of the multiple and varied opportunities for completing courses that enable them to advance their degree, they often succumb to the simple criterion of availability — if it meets a requirement, it’s okay. This principle might be true, but the relationships of the total curriculum could easily be lost in the disconnectedness of taking courses from many different sources. This is not to say students do not learn from each course, but that the integration of course content may not be obvious when left to the individual students to infer. 3. Vulnerability Unfortunately, there are course and degree “providers” engaged in this new opportunity that are not as ethical, or even legitimate, as most are. Misleading advertising can be very compelling to the eager and unsuspecting student, especially since there has been so much positive press about these expectations and opportunities. However, diploma mills do exist, and the student is responsible to verify a provider’s status. Also, some institutions may mask their lack of specific accreditation(s) in order to attract unsuspecting students. Such accreditations can be especially relevant in professional and licensure programs, and even in traditional liberal arts and science, business, health care and other areas.
