Remarks
The admissions for JBIMS are based on the scores in MH-CET / CAT / CMAT / MAT / ATMA and Cap Rounds for the Flagship MMS course. The Institute conducts its own admission examination for courses like MSC Finance and MHRD followed by GD-PI the detailed information for these courses is available on the Institute's website. Majorly, students in JBIMS come through the MH-CET Exam which happens every year around the second week of March followed by Cap Rounds which happens between June-August. The percentile required to get admitted in JBIMS is 99.94+ in MH-CET, and 99.98+ in CAT, CMAT, MAT, ATMA.
Course Curriculum Overview
The flagship course is the Masters in Management Studies (MMS) at JBIMS. It was started in 1965, and since then has been updated periodically to meet the needs of the business world. Semester pattern is followed in the MMS course, we have four semesters in which first two semesters are the same for everyone as through this the student gets to strengthen the functional concepts and it helps the students in grooming holistically throughout the MBA course and it helps in making better decision in taking specialization. In the 2nd-year students are allowed to choose their specialization. Specialization offered at JBIMS is Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, and Operations. The faculty to student ratio is 1:5 approx. We have 8 full-time faculties and the rest are visiting faculties who are mostly corporate leaders and are themselves the Alumni of JBIMS. The faculties at JBIMS teach by sharing their experience in the corporate world and this helps in better understanding of the concepts.
Internships Opportunities
JBIMS offers paid internship opportunities to its students and 100% of the batch get the internship through the institute. The internship happens between April - June for the duration of 8-12 weeks. Many big firms participate in the internship process such as Accenture Strategy, BCG, Aditya Birla Capital, Barclays, Citibank, Goldman Sachs, JPMC, Amazon, HUL, PepsiCo, etc to name a few. The highest stipend was 5.67 lakhs and the average stipend was 2.05 lakhs for the MMS batch of 2021. Through this summer internship, many students are able to bag a PPO during the internship.
Placement Experience
The placements at JBIMS are great and they can be compared with IIM BLACKI / FMS / XLRI / IIFT / MDI. Due to the small batch size JBIMS is able to place 100% of its batch during the placement week. The sector-wise offers are 38% BFSI & IB, 21% Consulting, 19% Technology & E-Commerce, 9% FMCG & Pharma, 7% Conglomerates & Mfg, and 6% others. JBIMS attracts various big firms such as McKinsey, PwC, IBM, HUL, Nestle, P&G, Tata Steel, Reliance, Amazon, JPMC, etc to name a few. The Highest package was 34.36 lakhs and the average package stood at 22.84 lakhs for the MMS Batch of 2020. The students are eligible for final campus placements after completing the summer internship which happens after the 2nd semester.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure for the two years full-time MMS course is around 6 lakhs excluding the mess and hostel charges. JBIMS is known for its ROI compared to the other top B-Schools whose fees are above 15 lakhs. As JBIMS is an autonomous institute under Mumbai University the fees hike per year is around 10-15%. There are various scholarships which students can avail of, the students falling under the economically weaker section and category can avail scholarship and freeship through Maharashtra Government on MahaDBT website. Some scholarships are also provided by the JBIMS Alumni to meritorious students.
Campus Life
Although JBIMS doesn't have a residential program like IIMs so all the activities are done in the Red building of JBIMS. The institute provides ample networking opportunities with Corporate Leaders by conducting Guest Sessions and various other events. Prayaag is the annual corporate fest that takes place at JBIMS and it is the flagship event of the institute, It happens around the month of February. JBIMS has a wonderful library and has availability of 40000+ books and access to 1000+ journals. The classrooms at JBIMS are well maintained and they are big, clean and air-conditioned. There is a total of 10 committees that are run by students and these committees take care of all the events and happenings of the institute. Some worth mentioning committees are Placement Committee, Alumni Committee, Student Academic Committee, etc. There are also three clubs namely Finance, Marketing, and Operations. These clubs work towards in-depth learning and awareness of the domains among the students.
