If you're a Design aspirant, All you need to know about NIFT

NIFT Bhubaneswar is one of the best campuses in infrastructure, Faculties here are very helpful, and the campus located in a peaceful environment. They offered Bachelor of Design and Bachelor of Fashion Technology degree in UG course and Master of Fashion Management in PG course. In B.Des course has four Departments which are Fashion Design, Textile Design, Accessories Design and Fashion Communication. One needs to clear the NIFT Entrance Examination and secure a good rank to take admission in NIFT. The entrance exam is normally held in mid-January and the situation test held in March. Then after good rankers get a call for counseling. Bhubaneswar Campus is located within the area of KIIT campus. Bhubaneswar is a good city with lots of accommodations and food nearby. With lots of facilities Within the campus, there is also greenery everywhere. They celebrate lots of festival events here. Even They have a good record of placement which is absolutely good reason for choosing the Bhubneshwar campus over others

I'm had intrest in art and craft. And as a fashion enthusiast, I wanted to explore my design thinking skills and wanted to turn my interest into a profession. When I research it, I got to know that Textile Design will be best for me, and also I came to know about NIFT, which will be the best college for pursuing my career in fashion. They have 1:5 ratio of faculty, students. Faculties are very helpful. They give their best for students to understand all the basics. We also get classes from Guest Faculties. Qualification of our faculties are minimum Post Graduate with 3 years experience in teaching and/or research at institutions in the relevant industry. They give us small class activities And there is 2 submission in a semester for each subject expect the final jury. We have our mid term in the mid-time of a perticular subject And end term in the end of that perticular subject.There is no perticular time for this assignments but submissions based on deadlines given by facilities.

From first year to final year students can do any intership in brands/companies they want. But NIFT offered the intership to their students which is a part of their curriculum. However during summer breaks, final year students go for an intership programme which helps an experience to get to know the industry from close. Students get internships related to their particular fields. Fashion Designer, Product Designer, Graphic Designer, stylist, photographer etc are the common Job roles. And stipend is always depends the particular brands/companies students doing their internships. Students get projects based on the clients and their feedbacks. Those who hits milestones by completing their tasks excellently got the opportunity of placements through this internship programs.

Students are provided an internship programme in their final year. Based on their performance, sometimes students get jobs in their intership companies. However, at the final semester, they get a chance to sit in campus placement in NIFT campuses like New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata etc. Yes students from all over the Campuses go to these particular Campuses where various companies come for placements. Brands like adidas, lifestyles,park Avenue, nike, blackberry, Monte Carlo,h&m, future group, Sabyasachi etc. visit for campus placement.The average package students got is 3-5 lakh per annum. The highest package to date is 12 lakh. 100% student placement is possible if all the students are sincere at their works. Students get placed based on their portfolios. But one must need a minimum cgpa for attending campus placement. Well, honestly I'm working hard to get placement in well known brands like h&m,Sabyasachi,Tarun Tahiliani etc. I wanted minimum of 3 years experience then I'll go for start-up

NIFT has a very high fee structure. In UG it's almost 12 lakh we need to spend in 4 years semester fees. The materials we need are also very costly. Including stationaries, living and food expenses it's almost 15 lakh one need to spend for pursuing an UG course in NIFT, Which increases by every year. The expenses of NIFT is only a con it has. Though they offer financial assistance to their students who are economically poor. They have even an exchange programme in FIT, Newyork. They have a good placement record maintained. Students get campus placements in popular brands and even internationally jobs and internships.

Spectrum is NIFT's annual fest. In this event, they arrange many games and activities, programmes. Students and Faculties both participate in events. Apart from these, there are so many events that are held in the campus. The library has a huge collection of books, magazines, and resources. It provides students a various range of research about topics they need. All the Classrooms are air conditioning, Department labs have very good infrastructure. IT lab , Mac lab is there. Auditorium and hallways are there within the campus. Campus has a huge ground, then Gym, basketball court, wifi, cafeteria, stationery shop are there. Every year a sports event 'coverage' is held among all the campuses. NIFT Bhubaneswar campus has four clubs. They are Cultural Club, Sports and Photography Club, Literary Club, Social, and Ethics club. These clubs arrange several interesting events throughout the year. All these clubs have their Instagram pages.

They have only a girl's hostel within the campus. First, second, and third-year students are only allowed to stay in a hostel. The hostel is very safe for students. They have a curfew after 8 pm everyday. Every room is twin-sharing basis. Free wifi, a washing machine, indoor games are also available. The meal is average. Food in mess is not so good in quality. But in the college cafeteria, we get good quality foods. Even there are tiffin services we can get from nearby areas. On menus both veg and nonveg foods are available. After getting admission one can register for a hostel. They need to do it from their particular NIFT cms login. Or otherwise, they can contact with hostel warden. NIFT Bhubaneswar campus is located at Patia , Bhubaneswar. And the campus is located within the KIIT University campus area. So as there are so many colleges nearby, students will get lots of options for PG, Rent or apartment nearby the campus area.

For PG programme, students have to clear personal interview rounds or group discussions. It helds offline or online depends on the condition in particular places. And in UG they have written exam. Here one's marks are evaluated from taking 50 % marks from their CAT exam + 30% marks from GAT + 20% marks from their Situation Test. The students who qualify the cut-off of the written exam get selected for the situation test /GD/Interview. Then after selected students get their ranks. And they get call for counseling, where they get a chance to choose their campus and Departments based on their respective ranks. I prepared for the written exam with help of a book named 'NIFT Guide 2020'. Along side in time of situation test I took online classes of a 'BRDS coaching classes'. Then for counselling I go through several videos from Youtube and research more about the campuses based on my course. Which helped me a lot to choose the right campus for my course.
