I think taking admission in this college is the best decision of my life. It brought me closer to my dream than I thought I would ever reach. It gives me an opportunity and as well as a platform to exhibit my skills in both curricular and co-curricular subjects. I'm happy to be a part of NIFT Bhubaneswar.

The course curriculum is diverse and exposes the students to various aspects of design; formulated to meet the standards of latest fashion and technology. Every course in NIFT is unique and provides ample scope in the industry later on. Students in NIFT aren't just taught the core subjects. NIFT strongly believes in the all round development of a student. It has lately imbibed various subjects such as music, dance, theatre, yoga, fitness, critcal thinking, personality development, gardening, story writing, cultural anthropology etc into the curriculum. Yes, you read that right. A student can opt for one of the subject above each per one semester. NIFT Bhubaneswar is also a plastic free campus. It encourages and uses Sustainable products only.

The NIFT placements happen at only 5 out of 16 the NIFT centres. Many MNCs and famous design houses come for the recruitment. Yes, NIFT provides internship facilities. It's also mandatory for a student to do an internship during the summer break after 6th semester and also the 8th semester is purely a dedicated industrial internship which lasts for 6 months. This is also called the graduation project.

NIFT has 2 major events. 1. The converge - where the best 50 students from each NIFT centres meet at one particular centre to face off against each other. 2. The spectrum - The annual cultural fest organised during the month of February. We invite a lot of other colleges to take part in the competitions, events, sports etc.

As one would think, a government college is considered to have low fee structure. This is not the case here in NIFT. The fee is around 3lakh per annum. Having said that, the infrastructure includes - a lot of heavy machinery, high -tech labs, modern and up to date computer systems like mac, New and huge classrooms, 3D printers, Kilns, sports equipment, gymnasium, music band etc demand this much of money and I'd say it's worth every penny.

The scholarship here in NIFT are as per the merit cum need basis. Though, I haven't availed one I believe it's only given to the students who's family's annual income is 4lakh or less. Talking about the loan, NIFT tied up with Union Bank of India which provides instant student loans. A few of friends of mine have opted for this loan and are pretty satisfied with it.

NIFT provides top notch labs and computer systems to the students. The college also owns very high end cameras which can be issued by the students. Sports like Basketball, Volleyball, Cricket, Kho-kho, futsal, Kabaddi, indoor badminton, are funded and entertained by the college authorities. All the facilities are satisfactory. Various competitions are held throughout the year.

There is lack of hostel facility for boys in NIFT Bhubaneswar. So I had to take a flat along with few of my batchmates. This is also turning out to be economical. The total expenses for a month wouldn't exceed 7-8k including rent, food, etc.

The seniors are the best possible way to find a solution to any problem in NIFT. Be it personal or academic, they are always willing to support and have our back. The alumni network is strong and most of the alumni often visit the college to share experiences and give advices.

NIFT conducts an aptitude test all over the country and more than 3 lakh students appear every year out of which only 2 thousand are selected. The aptitude test is divided into 2 phases. Phase 1 consists of the Creative aptitude test (CAT) and the General Awareness test (GAT). One has to be shortlisted in this round to proceed to the phase two. This phase is called the situation test. This is where the candidate's material handling skills are tested. Once done, you'll be given a CMR (Common merit rank) with which you can choose your desired campus and stream. All admissions in NIFT are done by pure merit.

The faculty here in NIFT are well taught and are mostly alumni from top NIFT centres like Delhi and Mumbai. They are aware of the latest market trends and are equipped with great knowledge in their respective subjects. However, the course itself demands a lot of effort from the students' side. One must not expect the subject to be spoon fed here.
