Remarks
The college management is supportive but needs to create more interactions with the alumni also, better workshops and meets need to be organised.
Entrance Preview
NMAT 276/360 i got more than 99%ile in this exam i had given CAT & XAT as well but missed out on sectional cut offs the college is based out of Mumbai, the financial hub of India and gives you a good outlook of the industries also you get a habit of living a fast life this is what made me go for this college.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is rigorous. There are a total of 6 trimesters with an average of 8 subject each trimester for the first year and 6 per trimester for the second year (5 electives per trimester) the courses are widely distributed and though the first year is common, you get enough choices in the second year to choose your stream finance, Marketing, IT, General Management etc.
Internships Opportunities
The college does help bring companies on board for internships, spread between some big names from BFSI, FMCG, Telecom, Operations etc. The general stipend can vary from 10K a month to 60K a month (approx). My summer internship experience was pretty good, getting to interact and work with some top management firms in one of India's leading private banks.
Placement Experience
As per my knowledge, around 90% were placed from the college while a few others opted out. Companies that came to campus were like YES Bank, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, Goldman Sachs, Airtel, Vodafone, Citibank, Bank of Baroda, State Bank of India, Nestle, Amazon, Flipkart etc. The packages for BFSI companies were in the range of 9 14L p.a. Amazon & Goldman Sachs offered packages in excess of 20L and were the top recruiters in terms of packages.
College Events
NMIMS had multiple festivals like Paragana (management fest), Arcadia (sports fest), Euphoria (cultural fest) and Parampara. The sports fest was an internal event with participation only from internal divisions. Paragana is a much bigger fest with participation from speakers across the industry, case studies, discussions and participants from multiple B school students. Euphoria is more of a fun event with cultural events and has participation from Mumbai colleges.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is slightly on the higher side but in line with the top B schools in the country (excluding FMS). It is around 5L per year excluding the hostel and food fee. The fee structure includes tuition fee and lab fee only. The total comes to around 15L for two years if you include all costs.
Fees and Financial Aid
I am not sure of loan availability as I have not used any. NMIMS offers scholarships to students who are a part of the Dean's List after the end of first year.
Campus Life
My division had 21 girls in a batch of 60 boys, that makes it approx 100 girls out of a batch of 300 students in MBA Core batch (divided into 5 divisions of 60 students each). There is a wide diversity both in terms of location and educational background of students. While 70% students are from engineering background, there are people from medical, arts and law background and ranging from Rajasthan to West Bengal to Kerala. There is a lot of harmony amongst students with no discrimination or issues related to caste, gender, ethnicity etc. The groups are formed by the students and include mixed groups of boys and girls.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel is situated close to the college and rooms are quadruple sharing with internet access. The hostel occupancy is limited with first come first serve basis the hostel is slightly expensive with approx Rs 1.3L per person for 10 months most students
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni are really helpful, in times of internships or placements. I had mock interviews with some of the alumni and it was really helpful in the final placements alumni taking time out from their busy schedules to help students and participate in alumni meets is really great.
Exam Structure
The exams and labs were hectic every trimester had 2 mid term exams and an end term exam in 3 months this was a good learning curve to understand the toughness we can face in the real world the final trimester was the most chilled out with no labs and an
Faculty
The faculty are highly qualified and very efficient we also had external faculty to teach a few specialised courses like Mr Anant Amdekar for Business Laws & Mr David Selvathan for Business Ethics etc some of the internal faculty I do remember are Mr TT K
