Remarks

The experience at the college is worth every penny spent.I would highly recommend the college for anybody not having a better option in hand. The management is supportive in most of the respects wherever possible.Thinking about the time spent at the college only gives me a smile as it has given me some unforgettable memories and friends in the form of both faculties and colleagues to cherish for a lifetime.

Entrance Preview

I underwent IBSAT Examination to be eligible to apply for the college. The score for the exam is not disclosed by the College as it is only a qualifying examination. After you qualify the exam you have to go through their Group Discussion and Personal Interview process depending on which you be allotted a campus also keeping in mind your preference of the campus. The reason for opting IBS Hyderabad for my MBA was very definite. Its amongst the Top 30 Business Schools in India and the overall placement and learning at IBS is quite sought after.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

The course curriculum of the college is quite unique and apt. It uses case study methodology of learning wherein the students are given an opportunity to learn practically through various real-life cases and various role plays/presentations/assignments on a regular basis. IBS boasts of its huge collection of case studies acquired through in-house sources and in association with Harvard University as well. The faculty members are quite active in updating their knowledge from time to time and they come up with different ways to make the lectures more interesting and fun. The student can go in for a choice of specialization right after their 1st-year exams and have the following choices available: 1. Human Resource, 2. Finance, 3. Marketing and Sales, 4. IT & Operations. It is the whole sole choice of the student to go in for a core specialization/Majors or Minors/Dual specialization. The best part about the college is that after making up one's mind on what kind of specialization the student wants to pursue, he or she has total freedom to decide on the subjects as well depending on their interests and their choice of job they want to do in the future.

Internships Opportunities

The best part about IBS is its unique 14 weeks internship program. The college is quite active in arranging for the internships of each and every student. Companies from all the spheres are invited and the students are selected by various companies depending upon their selection criteria which includes Group Discussions, interviews and at times written examination as well. The internships are generally paid ones and the minimum stipend that one can expect is that of Rs.5000 p.m. All in all the experience is quite good and enriching.

Placement Experience

5

The placement is very good.I would say the return on investment is quite good. The average package that the college succeeds in maintaining every time is near about 6.8 lakhs. I would not say that the college provides 100% placement but almost 90% students gets placed on campus. The companies that visit the college are quite reputed ones.Though there are many start ups and few low profile companies that also visit the college, but students are not forced to sit for the process of any company and a detailed profile about the company and the job profile and package offered is available for the reference of the student well in advance. Prominent companies visiting for recruitment include Deloitte,JP Morgan,JP Morgan Chase,KPMG,Nestle, all leading private sectore banks(ICICI,HDFC,Axis,Deutsche,IndusInd etc.) ABN Ambro,Tata Motors,Tata Capital,TCS,Wipro,IBM,Cognizant,Khimji Ramdas, L&T,Reliance Communications etc.

College Events

5

The college is quite active in maintaining a perfect blend of studies along with the extra co-curricular activities. There are various clubs being formed in the college from all walks of life including Dance, Music, Entrepreneurship, Event Management, Marketing, Advertising World, Economics. Adventure sports, Swimming etc. These clubs are dedicated in holding various activities from time to time so as to ensure the overall development of the student. The college perfectly believes in the motto “All work and No Play makes Jack a Dull Boy.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Keeping in mind the return on investment and the overall environment provided by the college, the fee-structure is quite feasible when compared to other colleges in the same cadre. As of now, the recent academic fees for IBS Hyderabad is Rs.12.50 lakhs p.a. An additional amount of around 3 lakhs has to be additionally spent on fooding and lodging for a period of 2 years.

Fees and Financial Aid

Well scholarships are no longer available for the Hyderabad campus.Ours was the last batch to avail the scholarship benefits. It was awarded to top 10% students depending on their performance in the examination. The college has a tie up with most of the leading private and public sector banks including HDFC(Credila Finance), Axis Bank,Oriental Bank of Commerce etc.

Campus Life

5

The campus life is a perfect mix of learning and Fun.The gender ratio in the college can be concluded as 50:50 almost. As the students are selected basically on merit,so there are no specific guidelines in relation to this. Moreover, there are no reservations in any form at the college. As mentioned earlier, extra curricular activities are not an after thought when it comes to IBS. There are activities being conducted on regular basis from all walks of life ranging from a Quiz competition, dance competition, Fun games, sports events(Volleyball, basketball, cricket, swimming, football, tennis kabbadi etc.) Singing competition, drama etc. The college boasts of its vivid infrastructure and students from diverse backgrounds and religion form a part of the college. It makes the learning more easy and the experience more enchanting.

Hostel Facilities

4

I have been in a hostel during my under-grad days as well. So keeping that in mind, I would proudly say that the hostel facilities and the mess food is nothing less than being near to fantastic. The hostel rooms are all single seater and come with both attached and common washrooms depending on the choice of the student. However, it has to be kept in mind that an additional amount of around Rs.10000 has to be paid per semester for availing the attached washroom facility. The common washrooms are being washed on a daily basis so hygiene is not an issue. The room comes with a single bed, almirah and a study table along with the chair. All the rooms have a small attached balcony to stand and enjoy the beauty of the lush green campus and mother nature. The mess serves both north-Indian and South-Indian food. There are 2 separate mess for veg and non-veg food. However, the non-veg is served only on Sundays.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network of the college is very strong and huge. The college boasts of 40000 plus alumni and has a dedicated alumni federation cell. The college keeps on organizing the get together parties which is being attended by students from various batches and hence gives us the opportunity to know each other and connect. The seniors are quite supportive and actively keep us updated on any job opening in their organization. They also guide us in time of need and are readily available for any kind of help we may require from time to time.

Exam Structure

The exams are of course not as easy as they might look. The students have to really prepare well as it is quite competitive. The students are graded from A to D on relative basis. There are completely no gaps in between the examinations and generally students have to appear for 7 subjects in 6 days. The time slot for the examination varies from Morning to evening depending on the subject. The maximum time allotted for the examination is 3 hours. The exam generally consists of both Multiple choice questions and open ended questions bases on a situation or case.

Faculty

5

The faculty resource person are all quite dignified and knowledgeable. All the Faculties hold various degrees where in a Phd in their area of interest is a must.Besides this, most of the faculties have at least 10-15 years of corporate experience which ultimately helps the students to gain in more practical knowledge from their experience that they share on regular basis as and when needed. The Faculty members are more like a family to the students. They play the role of Mentor, guide and Friend. The Faculties are also required to undergo regular training programs from time to time and have to actively participate in the co-curricular activities of the college as well.
