Chandigarh University (BBA)

Chandigarh University is a reputed college in the northern area. Our university is Asia's youngest one to qualify NAAC A+. The campus environment is really safe for everyone. Has a great infrastructure, Hygiene and Sanity is a bonus. There's a huge communication gap between the management and creates chaos sometimes. Every small issue has to be submitted on application paper, so clearly not a paperless University. Placement for management stream is a complete mess! They have good placements only for engineering departments. Mess food is good only till a week after admissions. Admission starts from June - August. Criteria for admission is more than aggregate of 50% in 12th. I chose Chandigarh University because it's one of the top 10 colleges with affordable fees and a great environment for students. I searched a lot about my college on Quora. Reviews of Faculties and graduates of the college really helped.

I chose BBA because it's a versatile course and hence will give me great opportunities further. Our department has a total of 45-50 faculty members and more than 1000 students. Most of our professors are PHD holders ( Associate professors) and some are Assistant professors. Every subject has a program leader who makes ppts and PDFs. Few teachers teach from books and research papers. All the classroom has a smartboard in it. We have a really interactive class especially in the communication subject. We have a mentoring subject every semester to help us being motivated towards our career and stay updated about our field. We have managed events being organized by the student organizers and a faculty coordinator to help us understand the working environment in a very creative manner. We have 3 units for a semester, 2 MSTs, 1 unit per mst, and then a final exam with all of the 3 units. Final exams are really difficult sometimes because mostly we have case studies to solve.

University promises for big companies like IBM, Times of India, etc but not the maximum number of the companies are the coaching institutes and companies providing jobs for customer care executives with a stipend of not more than 15k.

From semester 5 we're able to sit for placements. Usually more than 50 companies we can expect but due to the current pandemic situation approx 30 companies have made it. The highest package till now we have is 12lpa and avg 3lpa. Mostly we're being offered nowadays is for the profile of a customer care executive. A decent cgpa is more than 7.5 is required for placements with no supplements. I'll go for the master's degree as there are less opportunities available in the current pandemic situation.

Fees increase every new year. Mine was 85,000/- per annum. We get a variety of scholarships, Girl child scholarship, Siblings scholarship, scores based on JEE mains, JEE advance, scores based on your current semester score which should be more than 8.5 cgpa, and many more.

There are many fests, musical contests like Tashan nites, Bollywood celebrities promotional events, Informative seminars and webinars, Freshers party, Talent hunts, Inter College, inter University competitions, Art of living, Every festival is being celebrated for the hostelers be it Holi, Diwali, Pongal, Lohri, Navratri, etc. Every department has its own library but we have a central library with internet facility. Availability of books is not an issue at all. We have 70 students in each class, classrooms are spacious and it has smart board, fans, big windows. Our labs have air conditioners and air ducts. Sports events is the star. We have a separate sports complex and students get admission on sports quota as well. They get professionals to train them. We have a department called the Department of students welfare, which is concerned with every single doubt a student has. Different clubs are being organized under it be it different forms of Dance, Singing and many more.

We have a room for 4 people. Some hostels have water coolers and some have air ducts. Mine was air ducts and hence was costlier than the cooler ones. Hygiene and sanitation are a bonus. Meal quality is not bad but the menu keeps on changing. They keep a really good menu at the time of admissions but they change it after a few weeks. There are fewer leafy vegetables on the menu and more potatoes. They're more concerned about their budget. At the time of admissions, they have a separate floor for hostel accommodation registrations. Mine was 84000/- per annum for a 4 seater room. They have 3 seaters and 5 seaters also but the rooms are comparatively smaller. The University is located on the outskirts of Chandigarh and Punjab, near Kharar a village named Gharuan. But we get really good options for rental PG and flats with wifi facilities.
