Remarks

Rajiv Gandhi Institute of petroleum technology is an institute of national importance and has a governance structure similar to that available to IITs. It is academically mentored by IIT Kanpur. It takes new candidates through JEE advanced rank which makes this college comparable to new IITs and better than some NITs. It conducts its own counselling process for new admission. Dates and procedure for counselling are mentioned on the official website of the college. It has its own huge and well-developed campus which makes it a more preferable choice to new IITs and NITs which doesn't have their own permanent campus. It has a 150-acre campus. The only disadvantage of the campus is that it is located in a rural area and outside the city. It offers well-developed facilities like air-conditioned classrooms, computers labs and 24 hours wifi connectivity. From the last year (2020), it offers B.Tech in four branches, i.e, computer science, electronics, petroleum and chemical engineering.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I am 2nd year undergraduate in the Chemical Engineering department in this college. Our course curriculum was pretty informative about the core. It provides a deep understanding of the core subjects. Some courses also provide us with basic chemical industry knowledge. There are 60 students in my 2019-2023 batch and a total of 240 students in the chemical engineering department all year. There is a total of 12 faculties in the chemical engineering department and all of them completed their Phds from named institutions. The faculties are very helpful you can ask any doubts in between the lectures and sometimes outside the class also. If you are interested in research you can contact any faculty, they are always ready to help. There are two exams (Mid-term and End-term) in one semester and the difficulty level of the exams are moderate. If you are attentive in the lectures you can easily score a good CPA.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

Yes, our college offers various internship opportunities to third-year undergraduate students in various companies like IOCL, HPCL, ONGC and other PSUs based on merit. You can also apply for internship opportunities outside the core branches. You can easily get the NOC for off-campus internship opportunities.

Placement Experience

3.5

The overall placement of the college is good. Various PSUs, MNCs, and IT companies visit the campus every year. If you are from petroleum and chemical engineering, many government companies like ONGC, IOCL, HPCL offers the package of 16-20 lakhs to candidates. Many IT companies like Wipro, Infosys also came for recruitment. For the recent batch, the highest package offered is 21 lakh and the average package is around 9 lakhs. Up to 70 to 80% of students of the recent batch are successfully placed.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions

The overall fee structure for the first semester for B.Tech is Rs.1,30,000 and Rs.1,20,000 for the rest of the semesters. The extra Rs.10,000 is a one-time caution fee which is refundable. The tution fees are Rs.1,02,000 and the rest Rs.18,000 is for mess and hostel facility (this fee breakup was applicable at my time, college may change this fee breakup for upcoming years). College also provides a various scholarship for students who perform well in academics. There is two main scholarship provided by the college which is merit and merit-cum (especially for students having annual family income less than 5,00,000). Unfortunately, I don't have any information about the financial assistance provided by the college.

Campus Life

4

The college organises its own three different fests every year,i.e., kaltrang (Cultural fests ), Energia (Sports fest), Urjotsav (technical fest). Mainly kaltrang and Energia are organised in the months of spring( February and March) and urjotsav in autumn (October or November). There is a full two-floored air-conditioned library is present on the campus. It contains all types of books and journals and it remains open 24 hours for the students. The classrooms are also air-conditioned and theatre hall type sitting so that every student can see the board. There are grounds available on campus for every type of outdoor sports. An indoor games facility is also available. There are all types of social clubs and various student chapters present on the campus for student social development. AIChE is one of the active student chapters of the college.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

The hostel rooms are good and big. One room is alloted to two students. The 24 hours unlimited wifi connectivity for every student is offered by the college. The bathrooms and hostel. The meal quality is overall good but nothing in comparison to homemade food. I think every student know that you can't get the same quality as home in any college mess. The only way to attend college is to reside in the college hostels because the campus is located in a rural area, approx 30 km away from the nearest city so renting a room in PG aside from the college hostel is not an option.

Placement Experience:

Campus placement is not that good. Hardly 2-3 companies come here for foodtech. But there are job opportunities for this course. It is a growing field. Outside the campus, if applied in any company, there are chances of selection based on the skills and knowledge one has related to the field

The records placement cell is impressive because they organize useful and up-to-date seminars from time to time. Therefore the placement record is one of the best in Greater Noida. Last year was 98% placement. Placements start from the 7th semester.
