Remarks
Symbiosis Institute of Telecom Management (SITM), Pune, has a different way of imparting education. The executive MBA degree they offer is second to none. Apart from academics, the college conducts several co-curricular activities that enrich and help in the overall development of students. I'm so glad I took admission in this college.
Entrance Preview
SNAP. I scored 71 and chose SITM because of its reputation (best in Telecom management in the country), location and also due to convergence of ICT industry which complimented my previous education qualification (B.E. in IT).
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is effective and varied. Apart from Telecom specific subjects, it covers all the general management subjects as well. Be it Marketing, HR, legal, innovation etc. There are multiple opportunities to focus on research by being a member of different committees. Two courses - Systems and Finance, Marketing and Finance.
Internships Opportunities
General Stipend is around 5-15k a month for 2 months internship. Overall experience is good if you get into the right internship program. There are PPOs (Pre Placement offers) as well, if you perform well enough in you internship.
Placement Experience
Placements opportunities are good. We had 100% placements. Although for some students, it takes a bit more time but they take care of everyone. Some great companies like the Big 4 accounting firms of the world, the Top 5 IT companies in India, some great consulting firms lineup for placements process which happens day wise i.e. Day0, Day 1 etc.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fee structure is feasible as the overall expenses incurred will take care of EVERYTHING. Be it food, accommodation, books, uniform, bus services, certifications, extracurricular activities like outbound program, all of this is included in the fee structure.
Fees and Financial Aid
No, I am not aware of scholarships. Loans are easily available for middle class families as Symbiosis is a great brand name. Banks easily shell out loans at appropriate market prices.
Campus Life
Cultural diversity is one of the best things I liked being in the Lavale campus. It's a huge facility amidst mountains, clouds and awesome weather. What more can you expect. Extracurricular activities includes outbound camp (awesome experience), sports (swimming pool is available in the campus, a big stadium for cricket and Soccer, basketball court, table tennis, badminton, squash etc.), Gymnasium, dance classes etc. A lot of activities to cover.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facility is good. Two, three and four sharing rooms in the hostel are available. Climatic conditions are pleasant throughout the year, So no requirements of a fancy setup like AC, geysers etc. Hot water is available at specific hours. Mess food is not good enough. It's all okay in the first couple of months but it gets difficult to eat the same food for 2 years and you try to get to different avenues. But then, they have a good variety of dishes which will satisfy one's nutritional needs.
Alumni/Alumna
There are regular alumni meets at different parts of the country in 3-4 months intervals is arranged by the alumni committee. Active participation of alumnus happens there. Also, alumni networks on social media like FB, twitter etc is helpful for everyone to connect and help each other.
Exam Structure
Exam structure is good. I would rate exams 3/5. Although equal amount of weightage is given to internal practicals, mid sems etc. External exam structure is half yearly. It's a balance between hectic and chilled out. Sometimes you will be tired to the core and other times, you could catch a whole day free.
Faculty
Most of the faculty members are industry veterans and come from diverse backgrounds. Faculty members are knowledgeable in their respective areas and tend to put extra efforts to make the students learn and push some boundaries. Apart from academics, the college conducts several co-curricular activities that enrich and help in the overall development of students. They have a strong and competitive lineup of faculty members from the industry, regular as well as visiting, very knowledgeable and informative.
