Remarks
I first heard about the college from a friend. I was interested in the college because it was very new and upcoming. I was also comforted by it being a part of the brand name of st. joseph's, When I went to the campus to get to know more about the college, I was introduced to very bright professors, who told me more about the courses and assured me that this is one of the most up-and-coming law colleges in the country. This is the reason I picked St. Joseph's college of law for my study to be a lawyer.
Course Curriculum Overview
I believe that the faculty of my college is very supportive, to say the least. Depending on the individual's choice, the first two years of the course are mainly based on primary subjects like BA, BBA or B.COM accompanied by one legal subject. The last 3 years of the course are based on Legal subjects. The working hours of the college are 9-3, the college provides sports facilities and it is mandatory to be a part of any club, of the students choice. The board under which the college operated is KSLU and the teachers are good enough to teach the subjects in time and conduct revision classes for the students's benefit.
Internships Opportunities
It compulsory for the students to intern every semester. I believe that this provides a solid experience to every student before they get employed. Besides, The college also provides versatility because it is compulsory for the student to intern with the legal department of a social organization in the first year. The college provides internships but it is also acceptable to intern with any organization of the student's choice.
Placement Experience
As I mentioned previously, St. joseph's college of law is a very new college. Law is a very new department for the St. Josephs brand. It has only been 3 years since its beginning. Internships are compulsory for every semester and the first-year internship has to be with a social organization. So far, there haven't been any campus placements, as usually the courses last 3 years or 5 years. The pandemic had slowed down the academic year and 2021 will be the first year for campus placements for the college. Depending on the course ( either 3yr LLB or 5yr LLB) the students will be eligible for placements at the end of the 3rd year or 5th year. I plan to start a business of my own after I get my degree so I am not very focused on my employability.
Fees and Financial Aid
I believe that compared to other law colleges in the city, St. Joseph's college of law considering its up-and-coming brand value and the faculty it provides along with its co-curricular activities is pretty affordable. The fee per year is Rs. 1,03,000 and there is also a scholarship for SC, ST, and OBC students. There is currently no Hostel's within the campus but it is located in the center of the city is a very big advantage in that aspect.
Campus Life
One thing I like most about my college and st. Joseph's as a whole is that they balance education, extracurricular activities, and sports. They are very particular about the education not slipping out of the students' mind, There are events almost every month so that the student does not get overwhelmed by studies and sees the brighter side to college life. The classrooms are spacious and there are moot court halls, there is a very spacious library with all kinds of books. Besides this, It is compulsory for every student to be a part of a committee or a club. The seniors are very friendly and there is absolutely no form of ragging in the college as every student is forced to fill up an anti-ragging form.
Interview Experience
Yes, there are two rounds of interviews for the selection of each student. For me, there were two assistant professors who conducted my interview. They asked questions relating to current affairs and about my previous educational goals and questions that pertained to me as a person. However, they only tested the speaking ability of the student and how his/her thinking process is. I thought that this is very apt for us being law students and that they were very kind throughout the process. Apart from testing the thinking and speaking skills of the student via personal interview, the college also sees the 10th and the 12th marks. Preparation for the interview was a challenge because I had never done anything like it before. I focused on the why st. Joseph's and why law. Apart from these basics, I also focused on the current affairs at the time. Specifically, they asked questions about the economic growth from the end of the pandemic.
