Remarks

This institute was famous for Metallurgy branch since this college is in steel city Jamshedpur known for the biggest Tata Steel plant. Here I had opportunity to do the internship in Tata Steel and very well know National Metallurgical Laboratory (NML). Faculty at institute was very good, also all equipments were there for lab classes so along with study I had chance to do experiments in Lab under the guidance of our faculty.

Course Curriculum Overview

Course was good since was covering each and every area of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering. Academic was also good since the faculty was expert in their field and few professors were PHD from the same college or others were from IITs.

Placement Experience

Placement session was good and around 90% students god placed very easily since this institute was having good reputation. Placement happend in 7th semester for all UG students. In my time Microsoft was highest offer package with 18 lacs.

College Events

Life in campus was good but only point was the institute was far from city so traveling to main city was concern.There were many clubs and I joined Faces. Infrastructure was bit old as this institute was constructed in 1960.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fees was one of the lowest at that time in all Indian engineering institutes. Also there was no hostel fees and we only had to pay our mees fees. There were no internet charges. We enjoyed alot in institute which is run by MHRD so a lot money comes to institute. Also there were few schemes for scholarship for SC/ST/ OBC students. Campus placement was also good, at that time we had 90 % students placed and in that many were having two jobs offers and few with three jobs offer.

Hostel Facilities

Hostel facility was good since it is renoveted periodically. We also had internet, TV, table tennis, basket ball court and cricket ground. Meal quality was average.

Hostel Fee: INR 50000 per year

Admission

Yes, Gave AIEEE examination and got 11907 AIR. No GD and interview was happened. At that time for all NITs there was one single examination AIEEE used to conducted by MHRD.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum exam ready for students of mechanical engineering it focuses on industrial level exposure and for other competitive exams like gate and IES with good faculty who teaches almost all concepts. There are labs for each subject in which we get real world application knowledge. Also course is updated regularly as per the requirement of industry . The course can we improved by making course more practical rather than a writing all things on practical it should include project for students. Frequency of exam is that in every 15 days there is a exam with moderate to difficult level.

Placement Experience:

Students from semester 3 are eligible to sit for campus placement. There are even some companies which ask for fresher where student of any semester can apply. The specialised course like CA CS MBA has more placement opportunities. Many companies visits like GARNIER, TCS, GOVERMENT COMPANY _JHALSA. recently around 20 Students are selected in TCS with pacakage of INR 3Lakhs . There is no percentage requirements. Every particular can sit for campus placements. It depends on their skill and ability to impress the interviewers so that they can be placed. Basically there is Group discussion(GD) round and personal interview (PI)round which after qualifying one can get placed in the companies.

7th Semester students become eligible for placements. The highest package is offered by Rubrik in 2025 of 1.41 CR(domestic) High paying jobs are mostly for SWE/SDE roles. Percentage of students getting placed in CSE/AIML is 75, ECE 69, EEE 60, Mech 58. My plans after gettting degree is to get into job sector only for a while. No such higher education plans as such.

At BIT Mesra third is like full of practice for placements and final year more of placements activities than studies. So, when all these things are in order placements obviously will be more or less certain and here they are certain only with almost 90% students are places through campus with annual placements of 8-10 lakhs per annum.

students get placemetns from the 5th semester and are also give training for a month. more company enter my college like tata ,mahindra, honda and etc. if you have good marks in you six semester and you answer the questions correctly , the company may offer you a high package,and you can also demand you package. for mechanical engineers 100%,electrical engineers 75%and other branch68%. i will work in the company after getting the degree

I applied for NIT Raipur NIT Durgapur and NIT prayagraj I selected this college NIT Jamshedpur because it has top class placement and the branch I was getting as mechanical engineering which is a decent branch. I got rejected from NIT prayagraj due to little less rank . The admission process of my colleges you have to qualify JEE mains with around 95 percentile to get any branch as a general student then you have to go for Josaa counselling in which you will be a lot at the seat . Detailed review of nit jamshedpur

I did choose this college because it is quite old and reputed, being a govt college it has lesser fees and offered good placements, I got IIIT Lucknow as well, but didn't opt for it as it was quite new and didn't have proper hostel and residence facilities at that moment.
