Remarks
MICA is profoundly known in the B-School circuit as the 'School of Ideas'. The candidates who make it to MICA every year display the perfect mix of the right and the left brain. The crowd at MICA is creatively blessed which makes up for amazing peer to peer learning. The super specializations which MICA offers in its 2nd Academic year are one of its kind in India and set up the college as the 'Mecca of Marketing'. However, if you're looking to pursue a career in fields other than marketing than MICA might not be the right place for you. MICA is building itself into a general management B-School as well, however, there is still some time before it garners an equal reputation for its general management course too. The creative demeanour of MICA and my knack for marketing attracted me to it. I regularly read blogs from pagalguy.com which helped me in making a smart choice which was MICA.
Course Curriculum Overview
My course curriculum is well rounded. It covers all the corners which empower a sound marketing professional. The faculty does a great job in supplementing students with real-world examples. It follows an industry-driven approach. MICA has a 1:7 faculty to student ratio excluding adjunct and visiting faculty. The faculty is highly qualified and has pursued immense research work in the field of marketing. Exams happened once at the end of every term and each term was supplemented with pop quizzes.
Internships Opportunities
The average stipend offered is 80k. Companies from consulting, marketing, advertising and research come for hiring at MICA. They offer account management, research, creative and production roles to the students.
Placement Experience
MICA offers Summer Internships in the first year and final placements in the second. If one performs well in their internship then they are eligible for a PPO. The average package is around 15 lakh. It is lower as compared to IIMs because many advertising companies visit the campus too which drives down the average package.
Fees and Financial Aid
Currently, the fee is 21 lakhs for 2 years approximately. It is a bit on the higher side, however, the quality of education which a student receives at MICA is top-notch. Brand MICA has a long term recall and students can make the best use of it. MICA offers a scholarship for the underprivileged and high performing students during the first year as well.
Campus Life
Life at MICA is crazy. We're constantly engrossed in developing our abilities and learning from our peers. We're pushed to think out of the box. Our annual fest, 'MiCanvas' is a 3-4 day event which is conducted every year in the month of December. The college has great infrastructure for Sports and has amazing hostel accommodations. There are many committees which students engage themselves in and celebrate lives at MICA through them.
Hostel Facilities
The rooms are shared in the first year and individual accommodation is provided in the second year. The hostels are beautiful and one immediately falls in love with them. Each room has 2 beds, 2 dressers and 2 tables. Every hostel has a mess which serves decent food.
Interview Experience
MICA admissions consist of MICAT, which is an exam a student has to take for getting into MICA. It tests the creative and analytical ability of candidates. Along with MICAT, 20% of one's CAT/XAT/GMAT score is taken into account as well. If you make it past these tests, you get a call for a Group Excercise and PI. My Group Excercise divided students into groups of 8. We were asked to make a jig through the eyes of a startup hit by the Corona Pandemic.
