Remarks
I chose to attend this college because the word of mouth surrounding the institute was quite good. My CAT score wasn't up to the mark, but just because the cutoff here is 85%ile doesn't mean this college isn't competent. I had received offers from 3 of the 4 institutes I had applied to, but I ultimately picked TAPMI owing to its location and reviews from several websites mentioning it's a great place to be a student. Now that I am one here, I see why.
Course Curriculum Overview
The Marketing and Sales Management (MSM) course is structured quite well, with the rigour setting in a couple of weeks after inception. I chose this course solely because I had made up my mind nearly 7 years ago that marketing was what I wanted to pursue. The course isn't easy; from case study analyses to a multitude of projects and assignments, we have to do them all under a rigid deadline. At times it may feel a little overwhelming, but it does help keep us on our toes, and more importantly, busy. Exams here may be difficult but are quite easy to pass. TAPMI follows relative grading, so as long as you're doing better than the rest of your class, you'll be in a safe spot.
Internships Opportunities
100's of companies come in for internship placements, and most of them offer stipends. Some well-known companies that come are HP, Titan, ITC, Infosys, Outlook Group, Google, and many more. Students will find a plethora of opportunities for placements.
Placement Experience
Placements begin in the first year itself, for internships. The Corporate Engagement Team brings in several companies for both internships and final placements. The placement process is one starts as soon as the first week of the course till March/April.
Fees and Financial Aid
The first year and second year fees are around 7,50,000 each, with an additional 1,65,000 for hostel fees. However, due to covid, the hostel fee was not included. There are several scholarships available, amounting to over 2 crores.
Campus Life
There are more than 25 clubs and committees to choose from, with a range of duties and responsibilities that vary greatly. A few prominent clubs and committees such as LiMe, Atharva, and ESPIRIT conduct some of the most well-known fests and events of TAPMI. Considering classes are online now, we haven't had the campus experience. However, as students meet through our given Microsoft Teams accounts or our personal Google Meets accounts, and chat, play online games, and write assignments together. Classes are recorded, and the records are sent to us immediately after the class for us to consult and study later.
Interview Experience
My topic for GD and WAT was "Introspect the Differences Between Physical Books and E-Books". However, the topic kept varying between different groups. Some were economic in nature, and some philosophical. Along with that, there was a Team Activity round where teams of 6 had to solve complex puzzles within a stipulated amount of time. The final round was the interview. Questions like "Why marketing?", "Tell me about yourself" and "Have you ever been a leader?" were thrown at me. Along with that, the interviewer handed me a sachet of sugar and asked me to sell it to him.
