IIT Roorke is one of the best and oldest engineering colleges. It has a huge library with more than 3,50,000 documents in all forms. It is capable of accomodating more than 500 readers at any point of time.

I took the prestigious IIT-JEE (Advanced) 2016 examination to get into this college and I scored 210 marks out of 372 and my AIR was 451 (General Category). I opted for this college as it was the best my rank could get me. I had no prior knowledge or idea of the college or it's status.But, now I know that it is one of the best colleges.

Again as I have mentioned, the course is extensive with non-core subjects as well along with the core subjects. In the first year, I am being taught the following courses Mathematics, Introduction to Environmental Studies, Ethics and Self Awareness, Introduction to Computer Science and Engineering. electives in this semester (nor in the next semester), so I don't consider myself qualified to comment on the electives. As I am a student of Computer Science, it is neither relevant, nor easy for me to extract the internship programmes undertaken my the other departments of the institute. According to data that I managed to procure, there are two categories of internship opportunities available Internship Programme of IITR.

Please mention how many were placed, which all companies came to campus, how much did they offer. ( Mention Companies, Packages in detailed figures). IITR hosts the Asia's second biggest technical festival - Cognizance. This year (2016) in March, it consisted of over 200 events and hosted over 2,000 guest students, in addition to 8,000 students from our own college. Main events of the festival include guest lectures, panel discussions, workshops, exhibitions, online events like Insomnia, Blogomania, Cognistreet, Illushun, centrestage events and various departmental events.

The fee structure is not very feasible after the MHRD's decision to hike annual fees for undegraduate courses inl IITs from Rs. 90,000 to a colossal Rs. 2 lakhs. I had to pay Rs. 1,28,000 (inclusive of Seat Acceptance Fee of Rs. 44,000) as institute fee and Rs. 16,000 as mess fee both via Demand Draft.

All students whose annual family income is less than 1 lakh per annum get full remission of the fee, while those students whose annual family income is between Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh per annum get remission of 2/3 of the fee. The SC/ST/PwD students get a complete fee waiver.

After the JEE Advanced 2016 results, I filled up my choices and priorities on the JoSAA website after which there were several rounds of seat allotment and I was allotted IITR in the first round itself. I had to go to nearest Seat Acceptance Center (IIT Madras, in my case) for documents and biometric verification and payment of Seat Acceptance Fee which amounted to Rs 44,000.

With the exception of a few, most of the faculties are extremely dedicated and genuinely interested in teaching. The Professors are always willing to entertain any queries. And when they don't have an answer to them immediately (which is quite rare) they see to it thalist of them that I can opt for later and believe me, there is everything on it. Any subject that interests you is there.
