Remarks

The college has a very good environment. It is a residential college with a large campus. It has three girls hostels and one boy's hostel. It also has two guest houses for parents. There is no tuition culture and teachers are always available to clear doubts. Quality education is provided with ample opportunities for co-curricular activities. Annually sports, literary and cultural competitions are organised which gives chance for dance, drama, skit, music, art and all sorts of sports and literary activities. RISM is an inter-RIE meet organised every year. It has a big institute library and separate reading rooms and silent zone. RIE is a teaching institute and has its own ethics and moral values. It inculcates teaching values from the core with good education facilities.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

It provides integrated B.Sc B.Ed course which saves one year of separate B.Ed. RIE is a teaching institute and its inculcates its own ethics and moral values as a teacher from the core through its education systems. The number of permanent faculties is less but contractual faculties are appointed. The faculties are highly qualified and are known personalities in their respective fields and studying under them is a joy. The permanent staff do their best to get the syllabus covered but there are occasions when this does not happen and one has to manage on his/her own. Contractual faculty are hired with an alarming regularity but their quality may disappoint you. But the professors, will do their level best to help you out, be it with taking extra classes on request, providing you with books or reading material. The examination system is semester wise with two internals per semester. The questions standard is satisfactory and passing isn't an issue. Passing with good marks is the task.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

The multicultural and internship opportunities are wow if you are looking for experience. For being a teacher, what I look for is experience and satisfaction, bonding with students and getting into their lives. RIE provides the best of these opportunities. For the multicultural, you get exposure to different backgrounds of students and the environment of different types of school- state board school, CBSE affiliated schools and village school of chilika where you get to interact with the different sections of the society and know their education systems and their problems. But this may disappoint you a bit that the internship of 4 months is unpaid. There are a lot of many tasks to be covered in these programmes.

Placement Experience

3

Students are provided with campus facilities during the final year. There are campus placements every year with packages offering as low as 14k per month to 40k per month. The college provides 100% placements for every course. The top schools like Azeem Prem Ji, Delhi Public School, etc., visit the campus. The salary package offered is around 3 LPA, including food and staying facilities. The college only provides internships as it is a part of the course. Companies hire students as PRT and TGT. More than 30 schools visit this campus to offer placements. Although most students prefer higher education, approximately 40% of students get placed every year. NCERT offered Rs. 400-800 per month stipend to students based on various categories. There was no prominent placement cell, but ample of placement opportunities provided by the college.

Fees and Financial Aid

There was a hike in fees from MHRD that made the annual cost per annum to Rs14,155. There is a separate charge for boarders (2100mess fees per month and a total 7200establishment fees and 500 cultural fees per year) The scholarship is provided depending on both merit and the financial condition of the students. An amount of 800 per month is provided according to merit and with poor financial condition students and half the amount i.e 400 is given per month to students (selected on the basis of merit)with proper financial condition. Placements offer job opportunities from different schools all over the country with pay starting from 35,000

Campus Life

4

There is a lot of co-curricular activities throughout the year, just like any other regular college. If you are into sports then you can play with an abandon. the facilities are not up to the mark, but there are amazing people who make things brighter in the field. And yes, the professors are really into sports, so do not be amazed to bump into any of your ma’am’s or sir’s while you are in the ground or the tennis court or basketball court. Annually sports, literary and cultural competitions are organised which gives chance for dance, drama, skit, music, art and all sorts of sports and literary activities. RISM is an inter-RIE meet organised every year. It has a big institute library and separate reading rooms and silent zone. A large number of books are available in the institute library. There are institute clubs too that plan for different activities and programs like the science club, literary club etc.

Hostel Facilities

4

The hostels are in more or less good condition and they provide one room for three. Among the three girls hostels, the Gopabandhu hostel is the largest and is the best hostel as it is airy and spacious. One room accommodates 3students and they provide shoe rack and 3beds, 3tables and 3chairs.wifi connection is available although you need to come down to the common room to get a good connection. There is a common multipurpose room with TV. The meal quality is good as you get food in rotation with a variety of breakfasts, lunch, snacks and dinner. Saturdays are best as you get chocolates, cold drinks, ice creams and lots of other items. Sometimes the lunch may disappoint you a bit but the dinners are better. Registration for a hostel is very easy and integrated as most of the students opt for a hostel. PG or flats nearby are high priced but has got a bit more freedom. It's better to stay at hostels as it helps you to come to the institute at any time.

Interview Experience

4

RIE CEE is the common entrance examination conducted by RIE MYSORE every year which help to enlist students on the basis of merit. It depends both on the entrance test and the marks of 12th boards. Practising all the previous year papers is a way of getting through the entrance examination. The test contains questions from teaching aptitude, reasoning abilities and literature that needs understanding.
