My college experience.

All works held by management regarding student affairs would be taken up systematically, but sometimes the processing is too late. One should know correct place or person to get to know the information required.

I had taken O.U.A.T. state entrance for P.G. admission in 2014. I'm a B.Sc. (Agriculture) graduate. I had taken a course in M.Sc. (Ag.) Entomology. I had chosen this university as it one of the oldest agriculture universities in India and has good faculty and also it is well equipped. I scored 56 marks out 100 in the entrance test including academic record.

The course curriculum was well designed for three semester in M.Sc. level to teach basics with strong foundation and grip on subject. Further the subject will be taught to learn the all in detail in each topic.The curriculum will help a student to be well knowledged in all areas of subject, which would be useful in dealing with the better execution of research work assigned to him. A credit seminar will be conducted in presence of all the faculty members and also the research results will be presented in their presence for evaluation.

The college does not provide in specific to every student. But the first two students in the semester exams would be paid a scholarship of Rs. 1500 per month at M.Sc. level. The students of B.Sc. level also avail an opportunity of scholarship if obtained distinction in the semester exams.

There is placement being organised by the university in every college. It is lead by a professor. They take the responsibility of informing students about any placement opportunities available and if any private company or banks visit for an on-campus interview. Some major companies like NACL, Pragathi, Axis Bank, etc. provide jobs with a package around three to four lakhs per annum.

First semester college fees - 18000, Hostel fees (rent, electricity, water etc.) - 10000, Mess - 13000, Hostel establishment (additional) - 3500, Second semester, College fees - 6000, Hostel - 7000, Mess - 13000, the fees would be higher for the facilities provided. They are higher when compared to other universities.

The college would provide a loan amount of Rs. 15000 to some students who hail from poor community or whose annual income is low or who are in need of financial support for the education. It would be decided based on the applications received from the students to the concerned department heads and scrutinised with a committee issuing it.

Campus life is a good experience for a student. A student would be surrounded by a mixed population of people from different states of the country, with mixed essence various cultures and habits. All girl and boy students will be well participating in all events of college with a good harmony. All of them will be engaged in some or other activity like sports, cultural meetings. Some extra personal development activities would be held for students by the alumni.

Being one of oldest universities, the hostel buildings are also old, but repairs would be taken up frequently. All the students are allotted different hostel according to the degree. P.G. students are allotted single seated and double seat rooms based on availability and Ph.D. students are allotted single seated rooms with priority. The food quality would be adjustable to meet the hunger.

Alumni of the college will be always in contact with the administration and take an active hand in conducting some motivational sessions, personality development sessions, debates, public speaking etc. Seniors always give a big hand in encouraging their juniors in career development, job holding.

In every semester, a mid-semester exam is held for 30 marks, a theory exam for 35 marks and a practical exam for 35 marks including a practical work, presentation of assignment. Every semester will have a minimum of five subjects among which at least five deal with practical sessions. Additionally P.G. students will deal PGS course a special course for all post-graduate students.

I got to about the admission through a friend. The notification for exam is usually released during 4th week of May month every year. The applicant has fill up the application in his own handwriting including the details of his previous education right from higher sec. school and attach the photocopies of the documents with application send it back to the university. The exam will be conducted in the month of July. The merit list would be prepared based on marks obtained in the exam including 25% weightage of previous education record. An extra seat in every department would be given to a student out of the state domicile, if claimed.

All the faculty of the college were well qualified with Ph.D. degree and NET scored obtained as per norms of ICAR. Each major department has at least 15 teaching faculty available in the college, whereas some others are completely in research projects. Every master degree student will be allotted to single teacher to conduct his research project.
