IHM Chennai, best college for passionate students

Ihm chennai provides excellent placement. Great faculties. Good infrastructure. If you have a good rank in nchmct jee exam, you can get into one of the best hotel management institutes in India. Go for it, if you are highly passionate about this industry and if you are ready to work really hard.

I chose this course as it provides good job opportunities as per my interest. There are faculties with lots of experience as well as freshers. But, always experienced faculties will handle our practicals and major part of theory classes. The teaching method is really good. More emphasis is given to practical knowledge. Midterm exams and end-term exams are conducted for both practical and theory sessions as per nchmct norms. Ignou assignments and journal works are also given.

We can go for internships in hotels or retail sectors, as most of the hotels are not working at full pace due to this pandemic. But still, our college is trying hard to make sure that all the students are getting internship opportunities.

Placements are offered from the 5th semester. Both hotels and retail outlets come for an interview. I'm not sure about the exact packages offered as I'm in 2nd yr. But it ranges from Rs15, 000 to Rs 40,000. But still, it depends on your skills and the level you are getting selected(OT or MT).

The fee structure is pretty affordable. Scholarships are given to SC/ST students from Tamilnadu. I'm not so aware of other scholarships. But we have the opportunity to go for odc(outdoor catering) and earn money for basic needs if we go often. Anyway, boys get plenty of odcs than girls. But still, it is improving and we will get a clear image of the industry during our industrial training. Finally, we will get placed as an operational trainee or management trainee as per our performance.

Our campus has a good library. We always celebrate different festivals like Onam, Pongal, holi, Lohri, Ganesh Chaturthi, etc. It's a great experience. We get the opportunity to celebrate all the major festivals in India. The football tournament, badminton tournaments, etc are organized. There are few clubs like drama club. Classrooms have projectors and screens and are spacious enough. College magazine is also published.

Hostel rooms are good, but as a cyclic menu is provided, eventually we get bored with hostel food. But overall, it's ok. The hostel is safe and secure. There is nothing to worry about living in ihm hostel, you may order from online apps (any day)or have food from outside during weekends, so that, you will have some change.
